A Major Science Question

Hey All,

I was hoping for an opinion from the CC community.

I’m interested in the molecular basis of behaviorial abnormalities, such as the regulation of Pin1 with Alzheimer’s disease. I’m on my last year of highschool, but am thinking about phd/md after undergraduate.

Going into college, should I focus on a degree in molecular biology or behaviorial neuroscience?

Thanks,
J

Doesn’t matter. Just focus on getting high of GPA as possible. Once you get to med school you will have to take the same classes over again anyway.

Sounds good, thanks!

Think of molecular biology as a tool-you can use this knowledge in any field of research. Otoh behavioral neuroscience is quite different-you are studying at the macro level, in a way, changes specifically in the brain. Maybe you already know this but, if you so clearly know what you are interested in, go to pubmed and plug in terms you are interested in and see what papers pop up. From there, look at who’s doing the research you are interested in and where. Best wishes!
