Hi, I was recently rejected from CAS and accepted to LSP.

I thought that the finances were too much, and since LSP had a required curriculum, I would barely be able to take science classes and be stuck with some other unwanted classes.

I did not really like the prospect, but my love for NYU held true and I I decided to attend.

I sent in my deposit, and a week ago I received an email saying that a spot was saved for me in CAS and I quickly accepted it. I now plan to attend CAS in the fall for my freshman year!!!!!

So my point is, just because you got into LSP, do not deny NYU just because of that. There is still a chance you might get into CAS or any other school ( you will get into whatever school you want after 2 years, but this thread is under the assumption you do not want to wait 2 years and do not want all the classes and only have 1 elective freshman year)

Hey, just wanted to say that almost the exact same thing happened to me. After I got rejected from CAS I set about studying the LSP program and decided that having a strict schedule freshman year was worth it to attend NYU for pre-med. I didn’t even imagine that they might offer me a spot in CAS, and I’m pretty sure this is the first year this has been done, as none of the current NYU students I’ve talked to have ever heard of it happening.

Long story short, I’m glad I stuck with NYU because now I’ll be entering CAS next year. Also, don’t knock LSP too much. It’s not a terrible program and the set schedule is really only for the first year. By your sophomore year you’re taking half of your classes in CAS anyway. So yeah, NYU hopefuls for next year who are put in LSP should most definitely stick with it if they really, truly want to attend NYU.

i think a lot of people have a bad impression of LSP strictly because it requires you to take two years of mandatory courses but its the same in CAS. my friend who got into GSP (before it was LSP) and wanted to take a pre med major course. she received much better education than many CAS students because the LSP had small classes and terrific professors. LSP program is actually similar to many honors program in other colleges. they call it NYU’s biggest “secret”. to make a long story short, my friend went through the program, got a guarantee transfer to CAS and will be attending NYU med next year

so amazing!!!
I got the admission for LSP yesterday too!
While I am considering whether I accept it or not, I see this thread!!!
Thank you so much for helping me confirm my choice!!!
I love NYU and see you next year!!!

I got accepted into LSP. However, the thing is, I actually think that LSP would be a better fit for me than the CAS MAP curriculum. I believe this because I came from a Waldorf high school with an average class size of 25 and a extremely liberal arts curriculum.

In essence, It seems to me that I was put into LSP because I thrive in an environment with abundant writing/history classes and small classes and it would essentially help me transition to CAS in soph. year (after having a meeting with the director of my major, he told me I should be able to transfer and start my major second semester of soph.)

Either way, my point is that LSP students shouldn’t always feel like they were initially rejected. There are several circumstances where students are placed because they will actually benefit from the program. Another student from my school (graduated two years ago) also entered LSP, and absolutely loves it.

In conclusion: we’re all going to NYU, no matter what you’re doing there. So let’s show some school pride :)

Hey guys, I got LSPed too, and I was wondering how you knew about information on sending in your deposit, etc. I only got the initial email, and a packet explaining the LSP program and a hard copy of my original letter. Now I am worried that I should have been doing other things this whole time…please help me, because I’m starting to worry a little bit. Also, did any of you apply for financial aid? If so, have any of you gotten an update on that? Any info would be much appreciated!

what omg?! I received my acceptance into lsp on the 8th, and accepted it in on the 9th. Those of you who managed to get into lsp, but switch into cas, when did they notify you of your spot in cas??? I don’t mind lsp, but i would prefer to be in cas right off the bat.

also, when did you all receive formal acceptance packages and financial aid estimates?
