I see we could all use a short term change from threads discussing when the letters will come out. They’ll come when they’ll come guys… we’ve waited for 2 months so a week and a half shouldn’t be too bad

Anyway, if you are accepted to BC and decide to attend, what do you think you’ll major in?

Probably Political Science! :)

PolySci or Business

im probably goin to end up getting my Phd in fun

i’ve heard pre-med at BC is exceptionally difficult compared to other colleges. Do you guys know of anybody who is currently doing pre-med?

My cousin went through pre-med at BC. She then went on to John’s Hopkins. Megan is now working at Stanford for her PhD.

If I get in, I’ll be an English major. =]

Be aware that a lot of college majors are subjects with which high school students typically have little or no familiarity…psychology, philosophy, sociology, nursing, education, econ, and business are examples. Be open to getting enthralled with a subject you currently know absolutely nothing about.

definitely physics!!!

Schmaltz
Thats great advice of course. I am merely curious as to what people would like to major in, currently. Broad programs at BC will undoubtedly expose students to subjects they may know nothing about.

Iversonpz, I’d like to major in physics too! I’m thinking about double majoring with Pre-Med too, but from what I’ve heard about the difficulty of the program, it may not be the best idea…

“premed” is not a major at any college (that I’m aware of). It is just a set of prereqs, many of which are required for physics major (Frosh Chem, Calc & Physics, for example). English is required of all students. Thus, the only course a physics major would have to add for premed is Bio.

Premed is “difficult” at EVERY college. But what makes it more difficult at BC – indeed, ALL sciences are more difficult at BC – is due to the fact that BC offers zero graduation credit for the lab portion of your science class. Sure, the lab counts in the gpa as a one unit class, but that one unit is worthless for graduation. Thus, science majors have more class hours, more HW, more of everything, to fulfill the same 48 course graduation requirement.

French & Philosophy (if I decide to go to BC)

I deciding between English, Film Studies and History.

English, maybe with a minor in a foreign language. I was going to double in Philosophy but idk anymore

“Premed is “difficult” at EVERY college. But what makes it more difficult at BC…”

Also, at BC, the typical workload is 5 classes per semester, while at many other comparable colleges it’s 4 classes per semester.
