I have been accepted at Wharton, Dartmouth, Brown, University of Chicago, and Pomona. I have been waitlisted at Harvard. I did not apply to any other schools. My dilemma is that I want to pursue a career in finance, but in college, I would like to study higher mathematics and possibly physics. Is Wharton a good match, or would another college be a better fit. Also, let's say that I decide to transfer to Princeton, Stanford, or MIT from Wharton (I wish I applied to these schools in the fall). Would I have a better chance of gaining admission as a transfer, or as a freshman applicant (I take a year off). I am not trying to be pretentious. At this point, I am thoroughly confused.

Your chances at those institutions are higher as a freshman applicant but I would not recommend taking a year off unless you really want to take a year off. If you don't make it into MPS, you would just be mad at yourself for "loosing a year".

Go to Wharton, the best business school in the world.

If you are at all thinking of Economics as well then go to Chicago.. best in economics and an unbelievable Math department..otherwise i think Wharton is your best bet!!
