A new way to pass the time until D-Day...

**Ok, since the "Or game" is starting to get old (well, it has been for a while, actually), how about some story-telling? So pick one of the following topics or make up a new one....

1) Your best, funniest, or most hopeless excuse(s) for late homework.

2) Cliche, but still funny: tell us about an embarassing moment.
**

Best excuse

Had to work on college apps

I posted this on the Yale board already, but here 'tis...

My all-time best homework excuse:

"My tree frog hopped into my printer and got stuck there, so I couldn't use it."

No joke--this actually happened. I couldn't print anything off for a week (until we had someone come over and take the printer apart) because it could have squashed the frog. You should have seen the looks on my teachers' faces; it was classic.....

hahahaha :D

As for an embarassing moment....(shrek, you'll like this one):

I was with my sister at USA Swimming's Summer Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale. I decided to get a practice in during prelims one day, and after I finished, I got out of the pool and started heading for the locker rooms. Quite unfortunately, someone had spilled lotion or conditioner on the deck...and I fell spectacularly. Since this was Nationals, there were several famous faces* staring at me....Lenny Krazelburg, Klete Keller, and Brooke Bennett were among them. Then, to cap it off, a guy came over and asked if I needed help....
I wasn't hurt....but oh, was it embarassing.

*among swimmers, anyway

How did you feed the poor frog?!

They don't eat very often....you have to feed them crickets, and I wasn't about to put a bunch of crickets in the printer, too!

Note: this was in 9th grade. (Lest you all leave with the idea that I still spend time poking crickets down a frog's throat.)

lol, you feed them LIVE crickets?

(somehow this reinforces the kentucky hicky image in my head...)

Hahaha..don't worry, it's not that bad...you just put the crickets in the in the frog's terrarium, from what I remember. Yes, the crickets were live....yech.

Haha, this is already turning into a "lounge"....we're in typical form.

I've missed CC.
I was actually doing very well, good self control and all, but now that I've typed something, I can't stop. (I blame your frog story! It was quite hilarious though)

lol

most embarrassing moment...

so i am stupid and i wore bathing suit to jump off of a 10 or 15 meter dive. if those of you dont know the difference, a bathing suit are like those pant things, a swim suit are like speedos. so i jump off of the 10/15meter dive board with a bathing suit and my bathing suit rips and i end up skinny dipping in a public pool where like 200 people were at....boooo i was sad...i was also like 10 years old

haha...yeah, that would be a little mortifying.

I was at a meet once where a senior guy swimming the 200 fly forgot to tie his suit and then lost it when he dove in...he actually finished the race (lol) and then got disqualified for "lack of appropriate apparel."

aww

and did they delete the other thread? well, here's an ice cream cone anyway :p

which thread? I missed something, no doubt...

well i just wanted to say... 800...yes? whooo

lol what?
no i meant the really long word one, is it gone? I had called you a nerd and you got sad, so i gave you ice cream lol

worst excuse: elaborate story about how the fall of Martha Stewart and the decreasing value of her stock (at the time) was bringing about my downfall. It was with my newspaper teacher, to whom I always give elaborate made-up excuses whenever I don't have something done.

Haha, how long did it take him to realize you weren't a MarthaStewartLiving investor, phil?

I guess when I started bashing her the next day, hehe. Everyone in my classes know my stance on Martha Stewart. I make fun of her all the time. In fact, she was my added pilgrim in a project we did in AP Eng on *The Canterbury Tales/i. Quite caustic, I was :)

haha...so you tried to "come out," then (as a Martha fan, that is ;)), for the sake of your overdue homework....and they didn't buy it...too bad =(
