A not-so-typical applicant

Do you think your academic transcript can singlehandedly disqualify you from admissions?

Hypothetical situation (actually based on what I think I’ll be in grade 12):

I have a few C’s and low B’s, all of which I got early in high school, (and all in the same subject: math). Besides those, though, I have great extra cirriculars, really good SAT scores (I excel on standardized tests), generous recommendations, bold essays, etc. Could I still get in?

It will be tough and you will need to have some specialized activity, skill, etc to have a good chance unless you come from an ultra tough school or those Cs and Bs came from AP/IB/whatever cources.

yes, you could still get in. HOWEVER, great extra curriculars may not be enough... you're going to need exceptional ECs/national-level achievements/creative essays full of personality... you get the idea. and yes, you need to make up for it with SAT scores too. honestly, you never know these days. it's a cr@pshoot for everyone, and you're up against some really tough competition.
