How bad does it look to have a 'P' on your transcript?
It would mean I get to advance to AP Calc for senior year....
But does a 'P' reflect badly?? Does anyone have experience with this?

So you’re taking a math class pass/fail? That sounds pretty unusual.
That will not look great on review of transcript. But if the alternative is a D, it may be a reasonable option.

No, I am taking it online so I have more room in my schedule. Because it’s not the school’s course, even if I get an A/B/C…etc. I still get a P

In that case, I wouldn’t worry about it. Your guidance counselor can mention the reason behind it in their letter that gets sent along with your transcript.
It sounds like you are doing what is needed to challenge yourself.

It’s fine; don’t worry about it.

@skieurope do you know how it would affect my GPA?

It won’t be used in GPA calculation; an F would, but not a P.

I think it’s fine. I took physics pass/fail (I tested out of it) and it didn’t hurt me as far as I know. If you’re really concerned about it, you can explain it in the Additional Information section of the Common App.

Colleges might require you to submit a separate transcript from the online school anyway, and in that case they’ll see the letter grade.
