If I were eventually wanting to do research in the field of genetics, what path should I take to get there? What should my undergrad major be, what would I get my masters in, etc.?

biochemistry

Biology.

There are schools out there that do have Genetics majors, or have concentrations in genetics within their Biology majors. But some schools just have Biology majors.

genetics is a very interesting field by the way. so much more to know about ourselves

I would say Biology, and make sure to take whatever genetics classes are available to you. Additionally, there are labs you could get internships at that focus on genetics research.

And then as far as graduate school goes, you could get a master's in genetics, I believe that's a possibility. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
