What a completely amazing comeback win over VT tonight!!!! Go Eagles :) !!

Matt Ryan is just like Colt Brennan: overrated because his schedule does nothing but show him off and doesn't test him. You saw the real Matt Ryan the first 3.5 quarters. Nothing changed in the offense the last 2 minutes - the same plays were made, just VT couldn't keep it together.

Matt Ryan is overrated, just like BC itself

I was reading a message board re a NYTimes article on BC vs. VaTech. A lot of the anti-BC folks were grasping at straws to criticize the current BC football team (e.g., "they were losing the whole game up until the end"). It's amazing how many people claim to know BC is overrated in football (and academically) based on nothing but the fact that they are seen as a relatively new addition to the top tier. To them, having a rightful spot near the top of the football (or academic) polls is something that takes decades of high achievement to deserve. Ohio State hasn't beaten anybody worth a darn? No problem, they're OHIO STATE...they've been good for decades...they BELONG there at the top.

^ I agree, if BC continues to win, they should be in NCG.

Man, Boston must be a happy town... Red Sox, Patriots...now BC (who woulda thunk!)...and Celtics are predicted to do pretty well by Sports Illustrated.

"Matt Ryan is overrated, just like BC itself"

It's a shame that you go to school and can't learn some thing worth while except hating on other people and judge them under some twisted lens. I don't know if you call yourself a Christian or not, but you discrediting yourself as person. I don't hold it against you; I pity your school and that its education is wasted.

stats dont lie, i base my argument on stats, not "twisted lens", shame on you

tebow 18 passing TD and 12 Rushing TD. 30 total. 65.8 CMP% 3INT
woodson 28 passing TD and 3 rushing TD. 31 total. 63.8 CMP% 7 INT
dixon 16 passing TD and 8 rushing TD. 24 total. 68.8 CMP% 3 INT
Matt Ryan. 19 passing TD and 1 rushing TD. 20 total. 61 CMP%. 8 INT

out of the 4 QBs, matt ryan has the least total TD, lowest cmp %, most picks despite the easiest schedule. Thus prove he's overated

and he almost screwed his team over becoz of his horrendous performance for the first 58 minutes of the game against virgina tech. doesnt matter how he "saved the team" in the last 2 minutes. A heisman winner is supposed to perform for his team any minute he's on the field. he didnt redeem himself there at all.

Matt Ryan might be overrated, but look at that list. Which other QB has lead their team to an undefeated season so far? That's right, it's Matt Ryan and the Eagles. What do good teams do to bad teams? They beat them. There are intangible aspects to the Heissman wienner other than stats, like winning games. Before you call Matt Ryan overrated, look at the services he provides to the football team. If you still consider him overrated, then he's our overrated QB and you probably are just jealous that you don't have him

well then, look at Tebow's schedule, then look at woodson's schedule, then look at dixon's schedule....
now... compare their schedules to matt ryan's schedule.

If LSU and BC both sweep the rest of the games, and LSU gets into the NCG instead of BC, I'll drown myself (in the bayou, of course).

The "Twisted Len" is seeing Matt Ryan as the alpha-omega of what happens in the offense. First off, BC receivers are not as good some on the SEC; you can have Tom Brady throwing you the ball, but without your ability to catch it, then tough luck. And our receivers are not doing a stellar job by themselves. Second, a lot touchdowns from the other three quarterbacks come from rushing TD, which Ryan does not do well (5yds of rushing). But when you get into the NFL, your rushing skill as a QB is almost nullified by the speed of the Defense. Ryan's strength is in understanding the way defense work; he is a smart player, not an explosion of athleticism like Tebow is. Next, HAS ANY OF THOSE QB PLAYED IN A MONSOON?

Finally, shame on you for not presenting all the "stats."
Pass YDS:
Ryan's: 2,469 YDS
the nearest contender: 1947 YDS (Tebow's)

If Ryan wins the Heismann, it will be for being a QB and not as anything else. It doesn't mean Ryan is the best runner, the best rusher, or the best athlete, but the best QB.

And if BC goes to the NC, it would be for being undefeated (one loss spells doom) and not losing to Stanford, App-State, Kentucky (who loses to Miss St.!) or Colorado.

There are still four weeks or 1/3 of the season of CFB left. Validation can wait until the regular season is over. LSU should worry about Alabama right now and not how unfair the ranking is; Oregon (a team I honestly believe should go to the NC) needs to survive ASU; and we will worry about Bobby Bowden and his Seminoles.

and then shame on you for not mentioning the other stat that i forgot to mention:
QB RATING
Matt Ryan 131.48
Dixon 160.33
Tebow 176.51
Pat White 158.91
Woodson 147.7
Chad Henne 139
and considering that matt ryan plays the easiest schedule out of all these QBs and his rating's still lower, he doesnt measure up. If he wins the heisman, it has nothing to do with his ability, just BC's easy schedule and the imparity in college football this year.
also, matt ryan should have the most passing yards becoz BC has the worst running back out of all these teams. He gets to throw the ball a lot more than other QBs coz they cant run it. completion % tells a lot more.

"If Ryan wins the Heismann, it will be for being a QB and not as anything else. It doesn't mean Ryan is the best runner, the best rusher, or the best athlete, but the best QB"
heisman is not meant to be a predictor for NFL. SO ur argument doesnt make sense. Heisman is awarded to the best performer in college football. Matt Ryan is not. He doesnt do as much for his team as a couple other players, and he's not the best QB. And u think he's going to be the best NFL QB out of this crop? No . In a lot of draft prediction, Brian Brohm, Louisville and Andre Woodson, Kentucky rank ahead of Matt Ryan. I have yet to see a prediction that has Matt Ryan being the no.1 QB draft pick.

"There are still four weeks or 1/3 of the season of CFB left. Validation can wait until the regular season is over. LSU should worry about Alabama right now and not how unfair the ranking is; Oregon (a team I honestly believe should go to the NC) needs to survive ASU; and we will worry about Bobby Bowden and his Seminoles."
And of course BC has no one to worry about because they will continue playing incompetent opponents as they have been playing the whole season since they already took care of the only real team they play this year VT and almost lost.

bearcats,

Despite their less than stellar results this year, Florida State, Maryland, Clemson and Miami are formidable opponents by anyone's standards. It is not going to be a cakewalk for BC.

Also, perhaps you meant "disparity" not "imparity"?

Sigh. I guess it was good while it lasted. I'll be cheering the Ducks for the NC race.

BC's exposed. Overated.
Matt ryan threw more picks than TDs

And if BC goes to the NC, it would be for being undefeated (one loss spells doom) and not losing to Stanford, App-State, Kentucky (who loses to Miss St.!) or Colorado.
haha is FSU any better than kentucky? lmfao

Well, you have to tip your hats to the FSU team, they played better in the cold and rain than we did and had a well-executed game plan.

Bearcats, virtually every team, with the exception of LSU and Oregon, are overrated this year, including Ohio State. The Big 10 is weak this year, with OSU and Michigan as the only two legit BCS contenders. Teams have just moved up bc other ones have lost.

You see, I don't take pleasure in seeing other teams lose. You can look through this entire post and you won't see many BC fans making fun of another team just for the sake of it (except for a few exchanges with Notre Dame, but that's a Catholic rivalry). I think most of the BC fans have the realistic expectation knowing that if we lose one game this late in the season, then it would be really tough for us to get back into the race; although, we still have a good run with the BCS Orange Bowl.

Bearcat here represents the worst of sport. The hyper-competitive fan who takes pleasure in team losing and demonstrate the lack of sportsmanship (even as a fan). Until last night, all BC did was win their games and play their best. If he had read the first post, he would realize that I recognize the fact that we made this far was due to the historic collapse of many teams. We didn't paint ourselves as the next coming, we just enjoyed the the run of a good year. After the loss, I stayed back at Alumni and sang the Alma Mater, then went home and took a serious amount of Aspirin. It was a disheartening loss, but considering where we were last season and the changes that were made, we are still having a pretty good time. So please Bearcats, show some class and respect for the game; winning isn't everything.

And as I said earlier, if Matt Ryan won the Heismann, it would be for being the best QB. But he wasn't the best last night so he won't be a top contender this week. We still have 4-5 weeks left of football counting the ACC Championship so there's still time to salvage something, although he probably won't win it, an invitation to NY would still cap off a great year for any player.
