a post for all of us Early Decisions

yea NOVA kids are chill

its like were somewhat between the stereotypical lazy californian and the frazzled new yorker

Do the Gallatin students really have lower stats? I was accepted and I think I have good stats (2190 SAT). I chose Gallatin not because that was where I could get in but because that is where I want to go.

I called nyuadmissions office and they said that my letter was already sent out and I should be getting it at least by this weekend or call them again and they'll send another letter
is this a good sign or not,,,
cuz some cc kids said that they say u should be hearing soon if u got in or u will be notified from dec.15to jan.1 if u got rejected...
but there was no letter from nyu today

lol, chillax people.

Did Tisch Film/TV send their letters out later or is it just me?

nothing from PA

Congrats all!...**** I was anxious to check the mail and my mom just told me nothing came from NYU :(...this is really ****ing me off..

Before I was leaving school this kid starting jumping around and hugging people...and I knew he got into NYU - his dad called him up and told him a big envelope was in the mailbox from NYU. I was happy for him, but at the same time very bitter :(. The more I wait the more I get panicy and the more I start to believe that my rejection is a reality.."how are all these people hearing, but not me when I live 15 minutes away from NYC..in an NYC borough"...

sabeg, I did the same thing, and they said my letter had been sent out. I am not sure if this is good or not.

I haven't gotten my letter yet either, but honestly I don't think all early decisioners have gotten them. How about the people in California and midwest? Have they all received anything yet? I really do think they sent them out randomly, in batches, because people from NYC still haven't heard anything yet. I almost cried when I opened the mailbox and there was no letter today (because I was home from school ALL DAY, WAITING! (snowstorm)) but..I think I'll wait untill at least Saturday before I give up hope. I know it's hard but..everyone should try it.

A couple things from my end:

My parents spoke with NYU today, and they told us that my letter was not sent yet, and will be sent either tomorrow or the beginning of next week. More waiting....

Matt... In letters from NYU, they did recommend doing a live audition rather than a DVD one, but obviously, I chose to do the DVD because I did not want to lose my chance at NYU because I was having a bad day.. If I'm not in the right state of mind, especially when it comes to Jazz, and I performed badly due to nerves or whatever, I could lose my chance of admission. DVD is obviously to my advantage... you can hear one of the songs I sent in my DVD at the following link (I'm the piano player):

i got that newsletter today..does that mean my mail is slow?

parikhs- hang in there. im rooting for ya. if it were up to people posting on this board, you'd def get into stern :)

Thanks a lot Vicki, I appreciate it, but unfortunately thats not how it works heh. We're in this together all...and ak I think your mail is slow because I got that 2 days ago...but then again it depends. Hopefully tomorrow...and hopefully a Transit Strike so I get a delay to school and no test in AP Macro :(...but anyhow..off to study hang in there

OK Someone help me out...im a complete novice to college and stuff

Im an IB student, and I applied to NYU STERN ED and they said they will put me in their GSP program for 2 years n then i can get gaurenteed tranfer to stern after two years...is that good?

or should i just go to University of Florida which is free because of state scholarship....

Also, I could apply to other schools on my list, Cornell, UPENN Wharton, DUKE, and UMICH...I'm kinda goin into business...
please gimmme suggestions...

everything is awesome on my record, grades, ECS etc...just my sats are in the 1200s....lemme know whats up guys please.

I have a question...
nyu said they sent out my letter already but i just called usps and they said there's no letter for me
i live in nj and it takes only abt 30mins to get to ny
could it be lost or somethin'?
do you think i should request duplicate?

parikhs, I think we might go to the same school. Could be a lucky guess though. This board has been ultimately soothing though. Definitely calmed a few of my fears.

Jokr...i'd take the full ride to UF because 40k at GSP really isn't worth it when you want to go to Stern...GSP curriculum from what I've heard isn't really what you'd be getting if u got into Stern...however I'd talk to BigRed or whatever his name is because he's in GSP-Stern...if you don't mind what was your UW GPA and EC's? Congrats, btw...I was hoping for at least GSP, because I have same SAT's as you.

Parikhs, click the link below...i posted earlier, before I was gonna apply.
Lemme know wht u get.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=1308744#post1308744

JorkR I would just take the GSP offer because all the other colleges that you are applying to are big reaches for you. If you couldn't get into Stern Early, these other colleges are going to have even more competition in the RD round. You might have gotten into Umich but by now it is too late to apply and it is not direct business. Unless money is a big issue for you, I would take the GSP.

Yeah. I have a friend in Ohio who also received the newsletter today! So i guess that shows you the mail is slow in certain places. I'm pretty sure they don't send out random newsletters in batches...I think the mail is just slow for a lot of you!
