a post for all of us Early Decisions

i heard the acceptances say "congratulations" on the outside hahah. oh man.

i was up there last week to see my friend's show and i was talking to a girl who applied to steinhardt last year ED( I ED'd there for communications ) and she said she got an email on about the 2nd from Steinhardt directly saying welcome.

that is driving me insane haha.

by the way i'm alex, and i live at NYU basically because my best friend goes there and I live a train ride from the city.

I applied ED to steinhardt communication studies

i hope we all get in. historically letters start around the 9/10th.

keep this thread going, if a lot of us get in, it would be nice to maybe know some names?

Just wondering...if you get the GSP invitation in the mail what will you guys make of it? At first, I was like "i'm definitely not going...wow", but now that I think of it, I'll jump on it ASAP because you're guaranteed a spot into the school u applied as long as you maintain the required GPA. You get the same diploma, etc. The first 2 yrs might not be the same as those you got accepted normally, but you're still in NYU.

True...I wish you could decide about GSP in May though. Regardless, I'm way ready for high school to be over and I just want to get into college, GSP would just complete that hurdle haha.

I think I would rather be rejected than GSP simply becuase I do not know how I would choose.

It would be so hard.

True, but I've talked to people in GSP and they say its not as bad as it seems. The classes might not be the same, but everything else is and you get to go to your dream school. It really isn't saying "You're not good enough for us" but rather "We see something in you and we want you to prove it to us".

alex im doing communication at steinhardt too! post if you get that email..your stats are better than mine

your EC's are solid. mine are like...non existent? :( haha

i didn't even submit a resume. hahah i don't do much. but my essay for NYU i think was one of my best, i believe its going to be published? hopefully the NYU'ers will look at my writing as much as they say they do. and if they don't think it's good, they will at least appreciate that it's cracked out ha.

good luck, if i find out anything i will definitely post. you're the first prospective steinhardt i've come across, everyone is a cas, stern or tisch person it seems.

Is that true that the acceptance letters say congrats on the outside?

I hope Stern doesn't dismiss applicants based on GPA/SAT's alone and does check EC's with them in the first round :-X. My EC's are solid, but not so good GPA/SAT's. Hoping for GSP :X

yea its nice to see a fellow steinhardt out there! I agree with you about GSP i would have too many 'what ifs' i dont think im capable of making that decision. Good luck to you too! My name is ashley btw

We need to get some EDs from last year....I really want to know what an acceptance letter looks like

i was on an LJ community called "nyu2009", its public you can look at it.

quoted from someone who was ED'd accepted into stern:

"it comes in a big white envelope and says 'welcome' on it"

I really, really hope not to get GSP because I applied to Gallatin for the independence and GSP is totally structured - the exact oppostie of what I'm looking for.

Me too. I also applied to Gallatin for the freedom......if I got into GSP I would be very depressed.

Well, GSP is better than rejection - for me and from my perspective. I see what you mean though. GL

Alexkay can you link me to the LJ page?

I am also very curious to know exactly what the envelope looks like. I am glad I am applying ED because I honestly could not wait until April. December 15th seems like ages from now...and tomorrow is already December 1!

My name is Alex too. I'm applying to CAS. Other Alex--I hope they give a lot of consideration to essays too, because that's really all I have going for me.

GSP is better than nothing. My best friend is in GSP as a freshman (He applied to Tisch) He has made amazing friends and is having a fabulous time there...So I think if you're accepted to GSP you should take it because it is NYU, and if that is what you want, then you will be in your initial first choice school withing two years.

Time is going by sooooo sloooow. Anybody agree? Maybe I am just extremely impatient.

I thought Stern applicants no longer get put into the GSP program. Well, if I am offered the GSP program, I will gladly accept. Doubt it, as I am applying to Stern. All I think now, is NYU. I can't pay attention in any of my classes. Really anxious.

http://www.livejournal.com/community/nyu2009/7633.html

here you go.

you can browse entries after this, there is a lot of good information. and a lot of hte ED kids posted their stats which was interesting to look at.

Are the applications viewed in the order they are received or randomly? I really hope they look at my application last.

legionaire-- I know. NYU is consuming my thoughts. I try not to focus on it, but its impossible! Maybe I need more ECs!
