a post for all of us Early Decisions

I just got a letter from NYU about financial aid today, December 2nd, does it mean anything?

What does it say? Did you send in your financial aid form with your application?

My bad, my mom just took the part out that told me what it was, i sent my financial aid with my app and it says she didnt do it right... anyways heres my stats guys tell me what you think:

White male, Jersey Shore
GPA: 89% (only part of my app that scared me)
SAT: 1380/2100 (670 CR/710 MTH/720 WRT)
SAT II Bio: 600 (ouch)

From what I hear, I think I've got a really good shot at acceptance but let me know

i would think you're in...i mean at this point they know if ur in or not they wouldnt care abour ur FA if u werent in

No, it was a mistake, my mom only gave me the financial info part. The letter also came with a paper describing the parts of the financial aid she messed up on... and its postmarked Novemeber 22nd... we just got it today for some reason, though.

I bet you're in...congrats lol

I can only hope, waiting for one little letter is hell.

Jaquen, who applied to Tisch and got in last year..Do you remember what day you got your acceptance letter?

I'm sorry, that was four years ago, I do not have a clue. I remember almost everything about that day but the date.

I thought it was like, last year. Sorry! Thanks anyways!

Wow this Post has had 2,885 views!

89 might put you in GSP - but i'm not sure. is there a cutoff GPA?

Hey, I applied early decision as well for Tisch. I usually don't do this, but I wanted to know what you all think my chances are.

Attened NYU's Tisch School of The Arts Summer Filmmaker's Workshop 2005. This was quite the experience as I actually worked with Tish professors in making films. I was shocked when I was selected for this program.

Portfolio Review-

Strong creative essay. Writing is my greatest asset (one of the few things I am actually really good at).

I included the two films that I made this past summer at NYU. One is a music video and the other is a short film.

My essay for NYU is also really strong, as are my personal statements.
I know I got really good reccomendations from a teacher and my guidance counsoler, as well as internal recommendation from my Tisch Professor this past summer.

Thanks for taking time to view this.

lets hope not, i was kinda hoping my SATs and essay would pull me out of the GSP area

I think the most important factor in getting into Tisch is your audition. I know people who got into Tisch with only a 3.3 GPA, and in one instance, a 2.9. So obviously, while your grades, EC's, and reccomendations count - if you have a good audition (or portfolio for art and such) and they want ya - your in.

You are correct DramaQueen, the audition does carry the most significance in the Tisch decision. But they do have to put up somewhat of a fight for students who's grades fall that far outside of NYU standards because techically getting into NYU-Tisch requires you be fit according to both criteria. You will find the occasional Tisch student on the lower end of the GPA pool, but its far more common to find stellar artist-students than anything else.

12 days guys!

i predict GSP letters to arrive tomrorow

2 bad Stern doesnt give out GSP :(

does ED really make it that much easier to get into stern?
