A pretty worried prospective student.

So what do my chances look like?

No one !?

norcalguy said it, and his opinion is as accurate as anyone can give.

A couple of questions: 1) Is the ED rolling admissions?
2) Do they expect creativity in the supplemental essay?
3) Can I hand in supplemental reccomendations (Doctor that I did research w/)?

In addition to answering the previous questions, can someone also answer whether or not your major affects ur chances of getting in. For example, does the CALS have a lot of people doing Biological Engineering? Would I stand a better chance having a major in Food Science?

Someone Please!

Aw Cmon I Know Someone Knows The Answers!

1) No
2) I second this question
3) I talked to an admissions officer, and she said yes as long as you don't go overboard, and in your case I think that it would be fine.

Stop trying to work the system. Don't apply to a school or a major because you think you'll have a higher chance of being admitted. Obviously fill out the application and put some thought into all of the written responses. Do not send superfluous information that you have already iterated on your application. Sending more is not better. When it comes down to it, either you make the cut or you don't so it doesn't matter how much you try to dress up your application.

Shut your face. If you don't have anything usefule or constructive to say, then keep your mouth closed. I'm simply worried about getting into college. I'm not trying "to work the system", so don't accuse me of doing so. Can anyone tell me if the supplemental essay is supposed to be creative or straightforward?

From posts 10 and 13:

"Also, what other colleges (in Cornell) should I consider applying to? I mean, which ones are known to have a higher acceptance rate?"

"Just curious, but why CALS over ILR and Human ecology? I mean, I was planning on applying to CALS anyway, but I was just wondering if it would be easier through ILR or human ecology."

If wanting to apply to a college just because the acceptance rate is higher is not working the system, I don't know what is.

Thousands of students fill out the application every year and do not seem to have trouble with interpreting the questions. You can respond to them however you want, either being straightforward or creative. Please stop posting these useless threads because it is clear that no one on this board is an admissions officer and hence responses would not give you any useful information. If you have a question, it is better to call the admissions office.

BTW, if you ask the admissions office the question about the supplemental, they most likely won't even respond to your question because it is so ridiculously restrictive.

You're a dick. Thanks for responding though.

It so mature of you to name call. I do not understand from where you animosity towards me is coming because I have tried to give you “constructive” criticism. Do you want to hear a misleading reaffirmation that you are a shoo-in for the school or do you want someone to help you fill out the application? I as well as other posters do not know what you’re expecting from responses on an internet form (look at posts 18 and 23). Why do you think people have not been posting on this thread?
