A.P's no longer waived

<p>....maybe I don't even feel like asking...brrrr, shame on me.
okay, so I spoke with this woman who does all the payments, papers blah blah and she said that the state takes away like $22 and the school takes away $8...so it comes out to $52...she was really sorry about that, but you know, what can you do.
even if I'll take like one, AP psych, cos it's the easiest, my mom can't give me the money right now. You see my school was real ghetto and decided to notify us about the payments on March 1st...that they were due on March 18th. I mean, they could have at least told us in February, so that I knew what to expect.
and remember I gotta get a 4 or a 5 or it's a total waste. Plus, there might be a chance that it will NOT put me out of a college class, just give me credit.</p>

<p>breathfire, If I could I would send you all the money for all 3 tests...stupid schools. :(</p>

<p>Um, do odd jobs (if you don't have the time for a scheduled job)? I've managed to get along fine without my parents paying for my standardized tests.</p>

<p>dude, honestly, here is what you do:</p>

<p>You go to a rich person in some big bank or some big buisness. Dress up, have your credentials ready, and look smart. Tell this person about your problems. Promise to pay him back ASAP. I know it sounds like begging, but it isn't. Educated ppl know that they can give no better charity than to what you are planning to do. </p>

<p>Just make sure that in the future when some kid does that for you, you do what is right.</p>

<p>that's a bunch of crap if you ask me sagar.</p>

<p>Hmm... my friend told me shes taking the ap exam for free since shes not rich. i guess everyplace its different.</p>

<p>well, my school allowed me to pay by parts....$156 in total.
the thing is that NYU is fine w/ me not taking the exam, b/c they are optional, but my school will not give me credit if I don't take it, and I can't graduate that way.
isn't this all ridiculous? it's just a test, why should it cost so much?</p>

<p>Have you contacted any member of your local school board...or the administration office....the office NOT in your school building? How about a lawyer in your community who may be willing to speak with you and contact them with you......not sue them just help you through the steps.</p>

<p>I thought they won't have a reduced fee......but I did get it. I paid $32 per test.</p>

<p>in regards to the first post -> </p>

<p>wow that reaaly sucks.... i definetly would think twice about signing up for AP's if it wasn't for my school system which pays for it alll</p>

<p>Yea I agree that sucks.
Im guessing u go to midwood hs in brooklyn too. As a fellow midwooder, I agree that midwood is cheap. They should stop overcrowding the school.
At least paying $156 isnt as bad as paying $246 like some ppl i know.</p>

<p>breathfire,
my school didn't notify us until march 14th, and the payments were all due March 17th and today march 18...~_~ i got simply 2 days to get my money order.</p>

<p>well ...A.Ps are too overpriced. This is the first year the "A.P Factory" is not giving full fee waivers b@stards!!
"i definetly would think twice about signing up for AP's if it wasn't for my school system which pays for it alll"
you gotta take a.ps to show off to colleges anyways, so it's a must.
even tho the tests are mandatory...and NYU doesn't give if I don't take 'em, my A.P teachers will fail me or not give me credit if I don't take 'em.
so I can't graduate...and will get my admission revoked.</p>

<p>P.S--hey PhatCatman21...we should meet up sometime in Midwood and see what the heck we look like, it's so cool to meet someone in this case...a bit freaky, but cool. Hey, send me a private message...what if I know you?
hehe. :)</p>
