Hi! I'll be a senior next year, and Berkeley's one of my top choices for going to college. I'm planning on going into EECS or just CS, and I've been going at debating this for a while. I like programming, and I like learning about hardware as well. My stats are good enough to probably get into EECS - so EECS being an impacted major isn't much of a consideration.

How is EECS, in comparison to just CS in:

*Hours per week
*Difficulty

Do many EECS majors go into CS jobs after graduating? Are they as prepared for it as just CS majors?

EECS is one of the tougher majors in Berkeley. If you look around the forum you can find people posting how many hours/week they work and the difficulty.

You can gear yourself more towards EE or CS during your 4 years, so it just depends on you. Berkeley EECS is one of the top in the nation, so it shouldn't be too difficult to find a job.

If you're in the CS side of EECS, you learn just as much CS as a CS major in L&S. The difference is what else you take - more math and science or more social studies.
