<p>Why don't you use proper grammar? If you're accepted for ED, obviously,you CAN'T apply elsewhere. Don't you understand the consequences?</p>
<p>I think you get notification of financial aid reward with the acceptance letter or within a few days. Many have noted on here that you can back out of ED if the financial aid package is unaccaptable; however, doing so means you lose your acceptance at Colgate.</p>

<p>Reecy, of course I understand the consequences! but what about the consequences when even if I do get into Colgate, my family won't be able to pay for it? The number admitted under ED doesn't always match the number enrolled under ED. I think the people who backed out aren't obviously going to jail for it </p>

<p>but I didn't notice that we need to stick to all our grammar rules here and I saw some people making grammar mistakes who weren't asked by others 'why don't you use proper grammar' so I didn't really care</p>
<p>besides I know the grammar rules and I can apply them when I need I just don't see the point in trying to do that in real life as opposed to you</p>

Why don't you ask the admission office directly? I believe that if Colgate admits you under ED, probably you will get a satisfactory financial aid package, otherwise you can contact Colgate to request more financial aid. In the worst case, you may withdraw your application. But I don't think you' ll need to. Colgate is a 100% need met college.</p>
<p>glee3801: If you get into colgate but not with as much aid as you had hoped for, you can back out citing financial constraints. However, if it can be proved that your constraints are not genuine or are on flase claims then the decision is binding. If you choose not to accept it then most other colleges won't accept you. And yes, the aid amount is mentioned alongwith the notification about your entrance IF they accept you.</p>

<p>That's what I thought until I got the financial aid award offer. If my family contributions remain unchanged, we will run out of money when I complete my college study.</p>

<p>and im sure you can pull out if you dont get the aid you want, you just have to pull out before you apply to other schools.</p>
<p>EDII is just the second round of early decision. In short,
ED I - a "traditional" November deadline with December response
ED II - a January deadline with a quicker response than regular decision.</p>
<p>It's not the aid I " want " but rather the aid I " need " . I have already contacted the Financial Aid Office to state that my family will hardly be able to pay for my 4 year education at Colgate. I hope I will be able to attend Colgate University eventually. metfan2121, do you know how I can pull out ?</p>
