A Question about Test Scores

Hi, I’m not going to elaborate much on my personal statistics, but I do have a question about the likelihood of my acceptance to Brown. It would be a dream-come-true to be accepted, as I’m sure many people on this forum would agree.

I have done mostly all that I can do as far as standardized tests go. I received a 1860 on my SAT I, and a 25 on my ACT (though I re-tested today, and I believe my score will likely be raised 2 or 3 points… knock on wood). I have prepared a great deal for these while most of my friends have not, and I concede that I’m just not that great at these supposedly “fair” tests. I work terribly hard in school, but I feel disappointed that I cannot demonstrate my abilities on a standardized test.

I do have other claims, however: I’m 4/95 in my class, I have a 3.91 GPA and have had the lead in several plays, I compose original songs and do graphic design, ect. I find that writing essays is one of my strengths. I have these personal qualifications (some I have not listed) that make me stand out, perhaps.

However, my question is: Am I destined for the rejection pile because of my test scores?

definitely not...first off, your SATs are not even much lower than brown's median. Though you are put at a slight disadvantage, your essays and ecs will put you at an ADVANTAGE. don't worry too much, it sounds like you are a very interesting candidate

Why thank you, haha. I'm glad to hear it's not nearly as unlikely as I sometimes think...

I'm almost the same as you! My highest SAT I score is 1910, and I haven't gotten back my SAT II or ACT scores yet, but I know they won't be anything amazing... I'm hoping that because I'm a full IB Diploma candidate (39 predicted) and have alot of Com service etc and my essays will get me in...

Good luck! :D
