A question about the Computer Science program

Hey,

I have my choice narrowed down to a few schools, including Pitt. I was wondering how strong the computer science program was at Pitt. Thanks.

Random fact: Google has an office just down the street from Pitt, at Carnegie Mellon. I’m pretty sure I read that they’ve accepted Pitt students for internships there =).

Carnegie Mellon is the powerhouse in that field.

My GPA was only 3.7 and I only got a 1350 on my SAT. I doubt that I could get into CMU. I also tanked Trig/Elementary Functions.

I am happily attending Pitt though.

If that’s a 1350/1600 you might have a chance at CMU. A kid from my school last year had a 1330/1600 and tanked his freshman year in high shcool. but luckily for him CMU is one of the few colleges that does NOT look at your freshman grades. The rest of his high school grades were good enough to get in him. He ended up with a 3.7 unweighted just like you

It is 1350/1600. My grades got worse as I took mostly AP classes my junior/senior year. Not horrible, but a few B’s and a C in Trig/Efunc. Maybe I should have tried, but I got some money from Pitt and I love the school. I wasn’t the student who applied to 9 different schools.

I’m moving in next week anyways, haha. I just saw this old thread and decided to comment back on it.
