My contact acceptance letter at University Residence Halls for Year 2005-2006 says the form must be postmarked no later than Feb 1, 2005. How is that possible? I haven't even made the decision yet (will prolly attend but still! I wanna hear from ALL other unis before I make my final choice).

Does that mean I'll have to choose some other kind of accomodation? But I wanted to live at Residence Halls :( Does anybody else have this problem?

The $50 housing deposit is refundable before May 1st if you decide you want to back out.

So, turn in your housing stuff TODAY to ensure a seat in a good dorm, just in case you end up at UW-Madison.

They seem pretty strict about the contract deadlines. If they don't accept your form because you're late, then you can live in the private dorms (Towers/Statesider) which are supposedly very nice and don't fill up until the summer.

You created a problem for yourself. The rules are clear and cost you nothing if you choose not to attend. Why is it people don't believe what is clearly spelled out in black and white??

Oh crap, it does say "your $50 is housing deposit is entirely refundable if you notify us in writing that you will not be attending the U of Wisc"

feb 1, 2005?? my thing says by feb 11 - i triple checked the date on my sheet - if you want ill scan it tomorrow and upload an image on my website. My top five choices (in order) are:

Chadbourne, Ogg, Witte, Sellery, MLC - Witte

Okay I rang the Housing Office and they said late contracts are NOT accepted (it said so on the booklet too, so was no surprise.) They put me on a waiting list and said I should look into Private Housing.

So I went to the Private Housing website, found a dorm(Langdon) that costs less than University Residence Hall, was all ready to pay my $50 deposit but then saw this: "We will hold a space for you until May 1, 2005. After May 1, 2005 spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis."

Does that mean my $50 deposit only holds a space until May 1st? (I'm sorry, my English is good, I just don't quite get this) Then what's the point of reserving a space if spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, to (presumably) people who haven't reserved spaces as well? Or do they mean the housing option I chose may run out if I don't act quickly after May 1st, and may have to choose a more expensive option?

I'm sorry if I sould like a wuss, I will deposit my $50 because I'm international and I want to work as safely as possible, but saying that I already missed the Feb 1st deadline. Can anybody help me please?

I also remember reading that if you decide to go to another college that your $50 will be refunded (as long as you notify the university by May 1st).
