applying next year and i believe i would be waitlisted next year. anyways i was thinking would a person who is oos with lower points have a greater chance than a person who will pay less and have more points? would they value ur money over ur points? or would they just a first come first serve type of thing?

I looked at your stats and you seem to have a decent chance, since your test scores, EC’s, and essays could make up for your grade. But your GPA is pretty low, but that is your unweighted right? What is the UC gpa? It should be higher, which would boost your chances. Plus I’m not sure but from what I’ve heard UC’s are more keen on accepting out-of-staters because of the budget problems though I’ve heard that it’s still difficult to get in.

i personally would really love to be at a school which isn’t ‘cold’ but is like city/beach location. i would also like a school with a good premed program. i had 2 aunts go through UCSD and it’s premed and they told me that it is epic. i have visited the campus back during april break and i just loved it. the only problem is getting in. my UC gpa will be mad low. >.>
that is my first choice. all other schools are just random schools where i have friends and family by and are affordable for my parents. (UCSD is also affordable).

California residents will still be given priority, but OOS students have better chances these next few years compared to previous years.

Also, the UC system does not taken into account financial need (“need-blind”), so a high income student would not have an advantage over a low income student, nor vice versa.

You have very good scores, a challenging schedule, and enough extracurriculars to be in the running, so make sure you clearly state in your application what went wrong with your GPA during your junior year.

I personally think its going to be really tough for you to make it into UCSD. Since usually the UC’s in general look at more statistics than essays and extra cirriculars. But you have a chance still.
