a question for people who got deferred...

so as the title says, this is a question for people who got deferred (myself included)

did yall send anything in to the office to be considered when they reread our files?
i know most schools send in mid-year reports, but other than that.....?

I have a friend that was deferred, and she didn’t.

Umm I highly recommend that you send in a letter of continued interest as well as something. It could be a list of updates, an essay that you particularly like, or whatever.

At least, that’s what I did when I was deferred by MIT. They care about yield though, and Dartmouth doesn’t. It’s probably too late anyway. I know with Yale people were encouraged to send messages of continued interest to their regional adcoms.

well i sent an “email” of interest and would have sent more, but my regional guy tole me to call him instead. we talked on the phone about the process and what i could do and stuff so i’m hoping that is enough (in addition to the other stuff i sent in)

Sounds appropriate. Best of luck.

I called my regional representative. I spoke with two different admissions reps about deferred status and they both said to not just write a letter of interest about why Dartmouth is still a top choice, they said they wanted to see something that would highlight what they maybe didn’t see in the application. My application was very focused on my theater and music extracurricular activities, so I sent in a creative writing supplement and pictures of the school literary magazine I am editor-in-chief of. Just run ideas by your admissions rep, and they will be honest if they think it could help or not.
