Is Indiana your first choice and is it certain you'll attend Indiana or are you waiting for other college decisions

I'm waiting on my letter, but I should be in. Indiana is my second choice. I applied Early Decision to Boston U. If I dont get in, i'm fine with and prepared to go to IU :)

i'm waiting on other schools... i don't really have a first choice... i figured it would be best for my musical theatre situation to just wait and see which schools' MT programs i get into and from there make a top choice and whatnot in order to keep my stress down.

I was admitted to Indiana on a 3800/year scholarship and I'm still waiting for a decision from the Hutton Huttons College.

I'm from NY and my list of schools is:
- Boston College
- Indiana University Bloomington
- University of Delaware
- University of Maryland: College Park
- University of Miami
- University of Michigan
- University of Virginia

I was deferred from Michigan, which is my first choice. I don't know if I'll get into UVA and/or BC. If I don't get into Michigan I could definitely see myself at Indiana, especially if I get into the honors program.

BTW I intend to pursue business and/or the social sciences.

No offense Streitz, but if you didnt get into UMich (sorry, that sucks), I dont think you'd get into UVA. Theyre both awesome schools too :/

3rd choice behind ohio state university and penn state..which i am both still waiting for

By the way, about the honors program. If you don't automatically qualify, you can indeed petition for a position in it, and I DEFINITELY recommend it. Honors courses tend to grade MUCH better than the regular classes, as they like to keep their top students happy with their GPA.

i'm waiting on University of illinois urbana champagne and wisconsin

I see a couple of you are considering Indiana University. I'm a senior here and love it. I suggest you look harder into the business program here, its a great school and only getting better.

micsteph, what is your major? Have you had any internships?

A2 wolves, what are the steps to petition to the honors college and perhaps the business school?

I don't beleive there is a way to petition the business school, becuase it is an invitation. No one strictlt applies into KSB until sophmore year. But for the hutton honors college it is relatively easy process:
By Petition: If you are not selected to apply to the Hutton Honors College, you may petition for admission to our program. We are especially interested in highly motivated students who have taken advanced placement, accelerated, or honors courses in high school, or who have in some other way demonstrated exceptional academic promise and commitment.

Please send the following materials to us as soon as possible but no later than March 1 of your high school senior year:

* a brief letter explaining why you would like to enter our program
* a letter of recommendation from a high school faculty member who has taught you in an academic course
* a copy of your high school transcript

the website is
http://www.indiana.edu/~iubhonor/hds/admissions.php
I bet if you are on the border the petition would show the extra motivation!

So, can someone, anyone, tell me if we need to send in mid-year or quarterly grades, Please?

To anyone who cares to know UMich really isn't that great. I live 20 min from the campus and my mom is going to grad school there right now. My problem with is was that when I toured the campus I felt the admissions people frankly didn't care and that was very different when I went to IU to tour the campus. So yes IU is my first choice then I also got accepted in MSU which would be cheaper because it is in-state for me.

That's true, Michigan does treat you like a statistic.

IU is my second choice, although my top choice out of those I'll get into.

I applied to:
Yale University (my top choice)
IU-accepted
Purdue University-accepted
Miami University in Ohio

If I go to IU, I'll be a biology major with a possible minor in either atmospheric sciences, history, chemistry, or english

Since my last post in this thread, I have found out that I was accepted to Michigan! I'm 95% sure I'm going there. :)

yazz,

there actually is a way to petition the business school. I was directly admitted, but a friend of mine wasn't, so he appealed. I'm not sure exactly what the process entails (I think it's similar to the Honors College), but anyone interested should call the admissions office
