Which math level did you take?

I took math level 2, but I’m planning to be a physics or math major, so it was almost compulsory, and I had more than enough math background to do well. But if you take practice tests and find that you’re not prepared for level 2, it’s better to score well on level 1 than poorly on level 2.

I took SAT Math II at the end of my precal class in high school. It is one of the easiest subject tests. I think you will do well as long as you take some practice tests and avoid stupid mistakes during the test. In my opinion, math level one actually has a tougher curve than level two so you should go for level two as long as you know all the materials, which again are very simple.

I took Math Level 2 because I knew the material and the curve was easier.

I assume you all attend Princeton, right?

I took both. After taking level 2, i knew i had bombed it so took level 1 next.

Your assumption is incorrect!

I took Level 1. My advice would be take the one you feel more comfortable with and can score higher on. Don’t take the Level II if you’ll end up getting a score you’re not proud of. Of course Level II is more impressive, and yes I’m an incoming Princeton freshman :).

I took level 2 this january and got a 690
then I took it again (with Bio M) and got 800 (I got a 780 on Bio)
Surprisingly, I didn’t study much but found the test much easier this June.

When I went to a Princeton info session back when I was in high school, one of the parents asked which version of the math subject test to take. The admissions officer’s response was “You should take the one commensurate with your level of preparation, but if that means Level 1 then maybe you’re not the type of student we’re looking for.” This seemed like a pretty harsh thing to say at the time, but I think it has some truth to it.
