As far as SAT II scores are concerned, let's say I have an 800, a 780-800, and a 700-720.

Am I still a competitive applicant at all? The first number (Lit) is factual, but the last two are speculative based on my performance today (I think I aced Math II; World History raped me).

Anyway, are those scores good enough when seen as a group, especially since Lit is typically regarded as one of the tougher 800s?

Thanks for your [brutally honest] opinions!

yes you're competitive. By the way, I heard SAT IIs don't make or break you in the admissions process.

Still competitive. If you have two 750s and another above 700, you are usually seen as competitive. SAT II scores are more like standarized indicators of your mastery of a school subject, so they are only minor parts in the app. also, since it is part of the SAT, it is also treated like the SAT, aka anything over 2200 is considered competitive. Dont worry about it hookem. you're already amazing.

lol false. I've been thinking lately....begin random musings

I've always been considered "gifted" or "bright." I was always "that" kid, not the teacher's pet by any means (they always saw me as a bit off-putting, because I corrected them all the time....loudly haha), but the one with the highest grades.

Now, if I go to Harvard (somehow, some way), I will instantly become a member of the "lower 25th percentile" for the first time in my life. I've been trying to picture lately how that'll affect my self-esteem, and I think it'll be tough. I'm willing to sacrifice just about anything for the Crimson, though...including all the confidence in the world :)

Who knows...I know some people who thought they'd be bottom 50% of the class and came here and have become top 5% material almost instantly.

Hookem, alot of us can relate to you. My school thinks Im amazing and a genius and what not, but I know Im not. We all wanna be wearing crimson next year, but it's up to the adcoms, not us :)

lol so that didn happen to me only... haha... instead of teachers it was doctors lol

lol thanks, guys.
bump.

that's actually really true. If we make Harvard, I will probably instantly become the lower half of the class. Imagine how it'll be...

The thing is, I go a not so smart school -- the type that rarely sends ivies and sends over 300 students to community college each year. To be surrounded by a lot of smart people outside the group of 40 that I know would be amazing. That's mainly why I want to go to an ivy or a really good school. I don't really mind if I'm in the lower half -- yes, maybe it'll give me a good reality check to my confidence, but I just want to have people who have good ideals and can hold a good convo about academics without saying "wow you're so smart. I hate you." lol
