A question on financial aid..!!!!

Hi, I am an ED applicant to NYU Stern.

Thinking that I will not qualify for a need-based financial aid, I did not filll out the ED financial aid application. (how much should your parents' annual income to be in order for you to get the need-based financial aid?)

So when you guys are talking about scholarship, are you usually referring to merit-based scholarships that does not require separate application?

I am just wondering that it would hurt me very big if I do not get any financial aid at all after I am admitted as a binding ED applicant.

I have an okay SAT scores - 660(V)/800(M)/680(W) and 780(math 2)/750(physics), and good GPA (perhaps 3.9ish..).

However I am a male asian without US citizenship. (I am Korean with Canadian citizenship) (I guess this would hurt me ALOT...)

Do you think I will be eligible for some merit-based scholarships if I am admitted?

I would appreciate for inputs..

Thanks.

xian, as the parent of a Canadian grad from NYU, I can tell you that NYU provides no need-based aid to internationals (with the exception of certain types of loans), and that includes Canadians. There are also very limited merit scholarships available for international students. Here is what the NYU b/b states, and it doesn't appear to have changed in recent years:

"There are a limited number of scholarships for international freshmen, none for international transfers. Since these awards are extremely competitive merit-based awards, not need-based awards, there are no additional forms to complete. The maximum awards granted in the past total less then 1/4 the total annual expenses. As a result we expect that international students will be able to provide the full cost of their education with their own resources."
