I'm applying to Tufts as an EDII applicant for the Class of 2016, and to be honest, I am a bit confused.

I was under the impression that Tufts does not "value" EDII over RD, and evaluated your application the same way as the application of an RD applicant. I understood that all you did by applying EDII is to get your admissions decision sooner.

But, somebody else told me that they DO value EDII applicants over the RD applicants. And now, I'm confused as to what the real view of EDII is. Does EDII give you an actual advantage or simply, like I thought, bind you to Tufts (HELL yes. I wouldn't mind being binded to this amazing place.) and let you know your decision sooner?

Can someone clarify, please? I REALLY want to know what the difference is!

I want to be a Jumbo! Wish me luck, anyone? :)

Dan has said repeatedly that ED is not an advantage over RD. To the extent that he means that you must have the qualifications in either case (i.e., if you’re not qualified, applying ED will not help), then I think his statement is true. However, I believe that the percentage of ED applicants accepted at Tufts (and maybe all colleges) is higher than for RD applicants; thus I think that applying ED does improve one’s chances. In any event, since it’s your clear first choice, why not apply ED (unless you want to compare FA packages)? And I wish you luck on your Jumbo quest.
