a question

Does applying in the last possible minute put you at a disadvantage when the school practices rolling admissions????

faster, more change to get in for rolling

Yes.
Atleast it did when applying for freshman. I'd assume that its the same for transfer since rolling means accepting/rejecting students constantly as the apps come in. If they already accepted a lot of people by that time, you will have lower chances of getting, and by 'you' I mean people in general, not 'you' specifically because with your record, I'd be suprised if you were rejected from wherever your talking bout.

i think it all depends on the school.

ex: Cornell CALS is rolling but i called the admissions office ~March 5th-ish to see when they are starting to review transfer apps and the woman told me around the third week of march they start with the guarenteed ppl. she also said most of the materials that had already been sent in by applicants hadn't been sorted and filed yet at the main processing center. so in that case, i don't think it would have mattered if i had it in the day i called, or on the deadline of the 15th (i did finish already though :-) )

that is good news. thank you. so, in essence they mail the decisions as they make them and they don't make the decisions as they get the applications. perfect.

This is supposed to be true, but I got an invitation to subscribe for the Harvard Business Review over the mail 3-4 weeks after I sent my application. It had my new address on the envelope and it was sent out to me (I suppose) because my application was entirely economics/business oriented. So I'd dare say at least they skim through our applications as they receive them.

what if its not rolling admissions? do they consider when you sent in your app? for instance, does someone who sent it in 2 weeks after it became available have an advantage over someone who sent it in the day before the deadline?

no, if its not rolling then it doesn't matter when you send it as long as its not late.

of harvard, yale, stanford, columbia, cornell.... which of these practice rolling transfer admissions?

thanks!
