Just wanted to say: If you have parents helping you out (even if they seem bossy and nosy) with your college application process consider yourself tremendously lucky, it's better than when no one cares.

De Verdad.

How sad ... are you sure it is a lack of caring, though? Maybe your parents are afraid of seeming bossy or don't know how to help you. Another possibility is that they think that doing it all yourself will be an important lesson about self-reliance, becoming an adult, and all that other good stuff. What I'm saying is that a lack of involvement could be there and yet be coupled with a sincere interest in you. Being a parent, I'm more inclined to believe in this scenario ... but then I don't know you or your situation. I don't want to seem presumptuous. Have you tried asking for their help or telling them how you feel?

There are lots of people on CC that will be willing to help you out. And try to look at the bright side (cue music from "Life of Brian" here ...) -- you don't have parents telling you what to write about in your essays, what colleges to apply to, what major to take, etc. I've heard about all this on CC and it ain't pretty.

hey para

Squiggle88-- I am sure I'll be proud of myself at the end. The school applications were o.k. It gets kind of hard when you have to fill in financial information yourself in a single parent family where you get a blank stare when you ask for financial info., and apply for scholarships, specially when you are trying to balance everything else .

Thank you for your replies. To refer to Pollyanna (lol) I am glad to be alive and have the opportunity to apply to the schools I love. Everything could be a lot worse. :)
