A quick question about studying for the ACT

I have taken the ACT twice now and gotten very similar scores (31 and 31, with different subscores) without preparing. I would however, prefer to raise them a bit more, particularly in math. How much prep time is necessary to see substantial improvement at this level? Can anyone who has studied recommend some good books/websites? Below are my individual section scores if that helps.

1st time
30 English
31 Mathematics
32 Reading
31 Science
8/12 Writing

2nd time
32 English
30 Mathematics
32 Reading
30 Science
7/12 Writing

I for one have not taken the ACT yet, going to take it for the first time in Sept.

I have a book called 1296 ACT questions from PR, i plan on using that and this online test someone linked me to: http://www.act.org/aap/pdf/preparing.pdf

I’d take it, see how i did and then go over the questions i didnt get in detail. As for math, I’ve heard that knowing trig is very helpful and perhaps you should brush up on some common trig identities?
