A quick question to those who have transferred

Will my community college GPA transfer to the UW, or will I have to start fresh?

I have just 2.5 weeks left at my CC, and i soooo don't want to study hard. I will certainly get everything above 3.0, but if it doesn't make sense to try to get higher grades, I will just relax before my official break :)

Both.

Your community college gpa will be your “transfer gpa”

WHICH WILL NOT COUNT toward your UW GPA

Your gpa at UW will NOT take into account your gpa at community college

Awesome. That’s for the reply, travelgirl.

One thing you want to keep in mind though - if you’re planning on applying to grad school (well at least this is true for law school & LSAC) your pre-UW GPA is still used in calculating your GPA for graduate studies.
Plus, the departments at UW use your overall cumulative GPA for determining your major GPA. I transferred in to the UW with a 3.99 - my UW GPA has been a 3.65 since I transferred in last Winter, so I’m actually really happy I maxed out my pre-UW GPA cuz it opened the door to honors in my department + department scholarship + my second major. Hopefully it’ll help me secure my final major when I apply in the fall. Plus, the GPA has been used by each of the scholarships that I’ve received — so don’t slack off too much :P

Oh wow. Thanks for this info, it’s certainly helpful.
I guess I have to study for another week :)

Yes, study your butt off Seatac. Then I’ll see you at W Day in the fall. ;)

Yeah, thanks… It’s just another week or so… But I should admit that this is so far the easiest quarter ever.
