A really really tough situation..seeking advice

So like any other applicant, Cornell's been my dream school for years and i've always decided to apply ED until now. Although ED would really benefit me it would be tough for my parents in terms of the fees/tuition. i plan to apply to CALS for pre-med and live in NY but i doubt that would help me much. I'm stuck because i can't decide whether or not i should go for ED! And what if i end up not going if its a binding agreement, would i be totally screwd up? I need some advice from some 2013er or Cornellian =/
thanks.

Cornell is a common app school. From the ED common app instructions:

https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/docs/downloadforms/ED_Agreement.pdf

So if you find that Cornell’s FA offer is not enough to allow you to attend, you just :frowning: say thanks but no thanks, and apply RD elsewhere.

you are allowed to turn down ED if it is for financial reasons. they can’t force you to come if you can’t pay for it. i had the same questions when i was in your shoes. worked out fine for me. go for it!

I agree with everything everyone else mentioned…but if it ends up not working out for you, make sure you tell the admissions office that you’re declining their offer. It’s the polite thing to do. You probably would’ve done it anyway, but my friend got accepted ED and then decided she couldn’t attend for financial reasons, but failed to let them know so they hounded her for awhile. =/ And now that she’s at the college where she got a full-ride, she regrets not choosing Cornell…

well if they accept you, but the fa isnt enough, maybe try asking for more before declining, i heard it works
