A reasonable reach?

Hello,

I live in Illinois, and I'll be going in undecided, or any analogue thereof.

GPA: 3.3 UW
My school doesn't rank, however.

ACT: 33

SAT: 2200 (superscore, 2190 regular)
CR: 800
M: 660
W: 740

EC's: A lot of music things, more than I can list (but I can't see myself majoring in music, unless like I got a free ride or something). I've swam and played Water Polo for four years, on the Varsity level. I'm a writing tutor at my school. I have some community service hours, but I haven't gone to build houses in Louisiana or anything like that.

Is NYU a decent reach for me?

I'll give more information on request.

Thanks,
-RD

seems like it definitely

Just a suggestion, NYU sucks with FA. The admissions couselor herself told me that if you go ED expect very little to no FA and only the top 10% of applicants get aid. Also, NYU being NYC is going to cost a lot of money for transporation, food, etc. so keep that in mind as well. With that said, yes I’d call it a reasonable reach but adcoms might consider you lazy with high test scores and low GPA. I’d try to get your GPA as high as possible.

I’m so happy to see this thread.
I’ve been freaking out about my ED app, and my stats are VERY similar to yours.

my ECs are a little more intensive, and my test scores a very little bit lower, but other than that…

Also, have you thought about what you’d do if they offer you LSP?
Good

you’re test scores are fantastic, your GPA is low for NYU (last year I think the average UW GPA was about 3.7. You might get gsped, check last years acceptance thread with stats
