Wesleyan does, in fact, have an equestrian club... but because it's not a varsity sport it's not on the athletics page. I know very little about it, but if you want I can find you an email address to contact for more info.

Check out Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY

My dd is considering it against Lafayette and Colby, while not at the same level, Hartwick's Honors program and research oppty's are good and the professors she has met with are definitely aproachable. Further all the 30-40 something grads we have met couldn't say enough positive things about the school.

There is a decent jewish contingent from downstate, plus SUNY Oneonta down the road.

Oneonta itself appears to be a slightly left of center political environ with enough activism to have had an anti-Bush/War picketing group downtown on a Saturday when we visited last March.

I have read about their college and summer equestrian activities, as well as there team opportunities. And not only is the town crunch/artsy quirky, the college itself has a nice on-campus museums with interesting and sometimes off-beat exhibitions and holdings.

(plus some of the best carrot cake at Autumn Cafe, downtown)

Good luck in your search.

How about BRANDEIS?!

We have an active equestrian club. It's very active; there are nearly 100 people on its mailing list. See http://people.brandeis.edu/~bec/

It meets your size requirement, and, needless to say, has a very large Jewish community.

When I think quirky- I think Brandeis. Brandeis is the best fit.
