Hello, I have one question. I'm planning to come to school begining of August, since my orientation is August 9th. My original plan was driving to Clemson with my friend. Turns out my friend's plan changed....And I'm too scared to drive myself all alone. So I back off to my plan B, take the airplane....so is there anyway I can contact somebody to pick me up from airport and give me a ride to the school.(I'll pay the gasoline).Thank you...

It’s expensive but there is an airport shuttle between Clemson and the Charlotte/Greenville/Atlanta airports

Airport Shuttle Service:

AIRPORT SHUTTLE
Phone: (864) 295-4098

Anderson/Clemson Shuttle Services
Phone: (864) 654-1050

I chose to rent a car from the charlotte airport on my visit next month. I would say if those shuttles are too much try something random like craigslist or something? there has to be people in the same boat as you, or willing to help out.
I am planning to get out there prob. a little earlier than you, if I end up attending (99% sure) Ill let you know. Id have no prob picking you up from greenville or charlotte, seeing as ill need to drive my family back to the airport anyways.

Hey, Pierre, do you know how much does the airport shuttle cost?

Thank you Kleram, yeah, please let me know!I’m really appreciate!

from greenville, it’s $45/each way, from atlanta/charlotte i think it’s $130/each way (yes, it’s expensive). I would call and maybe check on the prices again since I’ve never taken the shuttle

Wow~that’s very expensive! So how did you normally get to school, Pierre? I remembered that you said you are from Boston…do your parents give you ride to Clemson everytime?

I take the Amtrak train to Clemson from Boston. It’s a long ride (22 hours) but if you download a few movies on your computer and take some nyquil to sleep, you can survive the trip haha

I’ve also flown to Atlanta and then taken the train from Atlanta to Clemson.

Thanks, Pierre. I might consider take the train from oklahoma city, it seems a nice option. don’t know how long that would take though…also, how many luggages can I take with me if I’m take the train instead? And how far is it from train station to the dorm. One last question, can I check in dorm on saturday…since I think I most likely arrive on August 7th or 8th, since my orientation would be monday August 9th.

actually I looked at your travel possibilities and taking the train from Oklahoma City is not an option (it will take you like 4 days haha).

One option is to fly into Atlanta, take your luggage from the airport to downtown the train station via the subway system and then take the train to Clemson if you cannot find a ride. That’s what I did last time. The subway system seems kinda sketch but it works very well. It might be a problem though that you have a lot of luggage with you.

Or you can fly into Greenville and pay $45 or whatever it is to take the shuttle to Clemson. That’s probably the easiest option for you.

for real? That long?!(Geez) I was more think it’ll be around 25 hours…since I checked the driving direction on the google map, it shows that if I’m driving from OK to Clemson. It’ll be around 21hours…

Anyways,Hopefully I can figure something out when the time gets closer.

yeah for some reason you can get anywhere in the northeast within a few hours but train service in the south just sucks, the infrastructure is pretty bad so trains have to go at a crawling pace and the train goes in circles instead of getting you somewhere in a straight line (you have to go from oklahoma city to san antonio to new orleans to clemson)

oh well, I’m going to be a civil engineer with a transportation emphasis so hopefully I can help some of the south’s transportation problems :)

hmmmmm, that really sucked…I guess my only option is stuck with the airplane, but at least it’ll be fast!I probably take your advise on easiest option.

PS:Civil engineer,sounds awesome! :)
