Does anybody know of any colleges in the Northeast(besides the ones in the Boston area) with a decent math program? Preferable, colleges that admit 3.2 UW GPA failures like me(please don't suggest community college). Size isn't much of a concern, but smaller is better.

I've made a list of colleges I've visited that I like, but I don't know if their math programs are good. They are: American, Drexel, Fordham, Rutgers Newark, and Stony Brook. If anybody can provide info on them, then that would be great. Thanks.

Rutgers NB is a very underrated school. Many of its programs are ranked in the top 20. I know its discrete mathematics department is fantastic. With good test scores (1350+), you would definitely make it in.

Stony Brook has an excellent math department. If you poke around the Stony Brook forum, there’s a user who graduated recently with a math major who’s written a lot of detailed stuff about the program here.

3.2 is NOT a failure! I am sure that if you apply yourself, you will be just fine! Success is so much more than a number. Do you have some career goal already?

I was only poking fun at how people on this forum think a mid 3 is “low” or “average” and recommend community college for people with less than a 3.

I don’t really have a career goal set in stone. I love teaching, but I’ve never taught/tutored a group larger than 15 kids. I don’t know if I can handle 100+ kids per day. I’ve also thought about being an accountant(boring and doesn’t sound mathematically challenging), actuary(boring), and statistician(sounds interesting). Ultimately, I’m just going to wait until college to decide.
