A Second Visit?

My son and I visited back in March - 1st visit for him. We took tours, attended admission sessions, visited the music school, etc. He has decided after visiting other colleges, that FSU is the college he wants to attend. Needless to say, he is beyond excited about applying and the possibility of actually attending FSU.

*He wants to visit again over the summer! *

So, since he has already done the usual first visit, what else would any of you suggest that he see and do the 2nd time around? What would justify another visit? ha!

I suppose this could work to his advantage w/ admissions too, visiting again "just because he loves it so" since he will be an OOS. Any suggestions?

Not sure if FSU does "overnights" but you could call admissions and ask if, when you revisit, if they have any way for him to stay on campus overnight. LAC's do this, not sure if the big U's or FSU does. Even better might be a trip in the fall, asking if there are any open rooms in the living/learning music community in Bryan Hall where he could do an overnight and really get a feel for the place. I am sure others will chime in with other suggestions.

Just finished up orientation and we are waiting for our connecting flight home

Orientation was very good and very busy

Anyway rudysmom, I think a god time to visit is during seminole sensation week

This is dueing the week before classes start in late august for the fall term

We did this last year and it was great. It really gave our son a chance to get a sense of what the campus is like when all the stydents are there plus they had tons of activities I.e. Concerts etc that you could attend

Its a verey ezciting time to visit

Thanks to both of you. I'll check out these suggestions!

Reading about the recent orientation has been exciting as well. Glad it was fun.

Sorry about all my typos

Using the blackberry to post is a challenge for my thumbs

Sorry about the typos

Postinh from my blackberry

NY dad, I was thinking of buying a blackberry...which one do you like and what service do you have, if I may be so forward to ask?

I figured you were posting from the blackberry! Especially when I saw "ezciting"
Too funny. It was all very readable and understandable.

i have the bb curve with verizon. its an amazing phone. just upgraded from my old bb last week. it has a built in camera and video recorder. i transferred songs on to it and can use it as a mp3 player as well.

i will upload some of my orientation pics in the next day or so so you can see the picture quality. the internet service is good.

overall its the best one i have had yet.

That's the one we were looking at. It has received good reviews. I have learned, however, that to use a blackberry you have to pay about $30 extra per line per month to use it on Verizon or Sprint (which we currently use).

We were also looking at some of the Palm options. Have any experience with them? They do not require the extra $$ per month.

p2n

the palm treo devices are ok. as an it consultant i encounter them on a regular basis. it really depends on what you are looking for. for me and most of my clients, email is the most mission critical element in a handheld device. the bb can't be beat for this purpose.

also the palm device that comes with the microsoft operating system is very buggy. if you get a palm get the ones that have the palm operatring system.

yes the bb requires a "data plan" in addition to the phone plane. for verizon, i think it is $45 per month for unlimited email and internet access. i can even go on to youtube on my bb and see a video.

hope that helps. feel free to im me or post here if i can help further.

Thanks, nycd!

That corroborates the observation I have that most businesses use the bb.

I have the Samsung Blackjack through AT&T, and I absolutely love it. It runs Windows Mobile 6 and has 3G network speeds. AT&T wants to charge you for the pda plan ($40 per month) for network usage since the 3G allows for large bandwidth usage, but I called and complained that I should be charged the smartphone price ($20 per month) since it runs WM6 smartphone edition and doesn't have a touch screen (which is the definition of smartphone). So I only pay $20 per month for unlimited internet + 200 SMS (media max 200 bundle). I also tether it up to my laptop via bluetooth so I can have broadband internet wherever I have cell service.
