A senior, I need motivation ..

Hi guys.
I am a rising senior, during the busiest summer of my hs career. This summer, however, has been the sluggishest, not worthwhile summer of all . I got into this video game called LoL and some other crap that all I do is play, eat, sleep, study maybe for 2-3hrs . I know I need to work out, get some air, start my common apps, recommendations, prep for sat2,sat,act and all that good stuff, but I just don't have the eagerness to do any of those. I feel like.. "eh.. I have some time left." but I know that couple months will fly by.
So my bottom line of this is .. Please help me get back onto the track and finish strong. I, myself, think I am being a dumb@ss but for some reason I can't fix it by myself.

Thanks guys, all harsh comments appreciated.

I can relate! Start small. Start by filling in the easy parts of your applications, and reading your review books before you go to sleep. Spend one or two hours each day working on one of the things you have to do, and see if you can work your way up to an extra hour or two a day by the end of the summer. If you think of it as a sum total, by the end of the summer you’ll have spent at least 30, if not 60 or more hours working on everything; that’s a pretty sizeable sum for a couple hours a day!

…Now I just need to do that myself and we’ll both be set! :stuck_out_tongue: Good luck!

I’ve been feeling the exact same way. It might be a little extreme, but I try to think about how I have been preparing basically 17 years for this moment, and a lot of stuff I do in the next few months will be pivotal for the rest of my life. Guess it helps to think about the consequences :)

Stop looking at 18/senioryear as a culmination . . . it’s paralyzing you. Start looking beyond as if it’s just another hurdle of life. Find a friend or relative or even one of your parents and start looking at the common app and college-of-choice websites together and start demystifying the process.

Many a HS senior gets emotionally/mentally burned out because more is made of senior year than needs to be. Sure there’s a lot of work to be completed but once you’re on the other side of it you’ll take a deep breath and tell yourself, “man, I don’t know why I stressed myself out about that . . .”

Find a good range of schools to apply to and learn all you can about them and you’ll find that’ll motivate you to complete the steps necessary to attend them.
