please add any others you think i coulg get into. I'm looking for a good school who offeres a good business program thats is fairly affordable.

well your grades and sats are freaking amazing! that's for sure. but...well...are your businesses profitable? like expand on those. cuz if you want business school, then showing them that you spend muchos time running your own business is awesome. and explains your lack of other ECs.

otherwise, awesome.

Thanks. thats cool. One of my businesses just broke even and the other one is doing okay.

I guess I could add that I was really involved in choirs before we moved to Japan. But since then I don't have much time between studying, teaching my brother, helping my parents with the chores and their business, my businesses, and my job. Do you think they would mind? I used to be kinda into sports but now i just work out by running to the train station in heels or something!!! :)

I'll wait to see what others see in this before I reply (no offense)

i guess now that i re-read my post it sounds a bit much, nonetheless I was just curious, because I'm having a bit of trouble finding a college thats affordable. We're purely middle class (as in middle middle class) so I don't think Im up for much financial aid, and my parents have already told me that they aren't going to help me much in this thing.

Wow, you have some amazing stats..

Those are some pretty ridiculous scores.

Well, I think you have amazing stats... Are you going to write pacific islander, or Cacacasion on the app??? I would say that you will probably get into all of those schools, but I would NEVER count on FA from Cornell

I know those scores sound pretty ridiculous, but because I was homeschooled I didn't have to stay on a set curriculum filled with "fluff". Plus I was able to study at my own pace and focus on the things I had a lot of trouble with and skip the things I already knew. Other than that fact I'm a pretty normal girl, not a genius or anything.

I'm still debating whether or not to specify my race. I though Pacific Islander is for Indonesians or Phillipinos? Being half-japanese isn't anything amazing, so I might just leave that blank.

Could anyone think of a good college that would offer a lot of financial aid in my case?

I think your actually better off writing Pacific Islander, because many schools do a point system

5 points for being African American/ Hisanic
3- Cacascion
1- Pacific Islander
0- Not writing anything down

Yeah.... PACIFIC ISLANDERS = Phillipines, Indonesia, Malaysia, JAPANESE = Asian... so you're right Iamhappy, you wouldn't be considered Pacific Islander....

Okay, I can see how that worked for you. I spend most of my time twiddling thumbs in class, and I'm usually prepared for a test like the day after we learn something, but the teacher reviews for a week before we can move on. Plus, there's lots and lots of work that's just exhibiting that we know what we're doing. I'm glad I went to a public school for other reasons, but we'd all be much more knowledgeable under your system.

Here's my opinion: shoot for the stars. You have better scores than any one I've seen alive. With a killer essay, you could get into about any school in America, and they will make sure you can go there. Most of the schools I'm looking at cost 30k for tuition, then we expect like 15k more for room, board, food, clothing, books, spending money, etc. If you get in, they will give you the money to go based on your family income. I did the Princeton aid predictor, and with my father's 80k a year, they would give 28k in grants and I could work for 2k more, so we would only have to pay 10k. We would pay 20k a year for a UC, which I don't really want to go to.

So don't worry about the money. You will get scholarships. Best thing to do is apply to the colleges you really want to go to, not base your decision on what they cost, and pick the one with the best financial aid package.

Final note: Rice University in Houston, Texas has tuition about 10k less than other top schools.

shoot for the stars! seriously, you have a very unique situations, and aside from your stellar scores/classes, you will stand out simply because you are homeschooled. be sure to write about your experiences with helping your brother/parents and about your businesses. the fact that you are attempting to run businesses says a LOT, don't worry about whether they are hugely successful. good luck! also, about the money, you could probably get merit aid at a LOT of schools. ivies don't give merit aid, but TONS of GREAT schools do. (like, nyu, northwestern i think, George Washington, the UW madison...etc etc)

wow.....you could get into any school you wanted to. running your own business as an EC is extremely impressive and it shows how passionate you are about it. Did you teach yourself spanish?

Thanks guys.

And yes I did teach myself Spanish.

But believe me, teaching yourself anything is no fun! :)

yeah I agree with others...you should shoot for colleges way higher than the ones you listed.

wow...that's amazing...how long did it take you? what books did you use?
