A slightly different UCLA vs USC thread

Hey, guys. :) I know there are a lot of UCLA vs USC threads around this forum, but this one is a little more about the student bodies of each school rather than the academics or other intangibles.

While academics are obviously a huge part of attending the right college, UCLA and USC are pretty much tied for me in that department. So the other really important aspect of college--the people you'll meet--is now up for discussion.

I have the feeling that I would fit in better with UCLA's student body, but I just want some reassurance about the matter. I know I can't make sweeping generalizations about either student body, but is there any truth in the reps that the two schools have in terms of people? I.e. USC being a better school for people who like to party, drink, love sports, tend to be more conservative, all that? And UCLA being better for more liberal, cerebral, slightly more eccentric or quirky types?

Based on those reps, I'd definitely fit better at UCLA. I'm not as liberal as the Berkeley stereotype, but I am fairly liberal; I never drink; while I want to attend a few parties at college, it's really not my scene and I'd rather join extracurricular organizations like working on the newspaper or working on theater productions (that kind of stuff); I'm fairly quirky and it also seems like UCLA would be more welcoming to me as a bisexual and an atheist. :p

Any insight on this would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

Those stereotypes are pretty spot on. I think they are definitive of the heavy Asian presence in UCLA or predominantly Caucasian student body at USC.

i’m wondering this too cuz if the people-stereotypes are really true, i probably won’t even bother with appealing to usc and just will go to ucla.

not true unless you view USC’s chapter of SAE as representative of the entire school.
