al gore can probably help you..

...in all seriousness... how small are we talking? you can get one of those chests from bed bath and beyond for like $40-$50

I bought an actual safe at Office Max when I went. I can't remember how much it was though...

I got a small box (probably would fit everything you described) at The Container Store. It's called a cash box, I think you can find it online.

Should probably just buy a real safe. Cause can't anybody just take the safe box if it's not secured to anything??

My boyfriend has a cash box IN a safe. :-D Personally, I would probably chain the safe to the bed or something. Ironic that your safe isn't safe.

Hmmm perhaps I'm just not a very trusting person I'm not sure I'd be advertising the fact I had a safe in my room on a public forum.

I guess I used the wrong word--I wasn't looking for a safe but more like a box that I could lock

You can find one at Target. "D" is going to use her footlocker and put a pad lock on it. I highly doubt anyone is going to run off with that huge thing, and it's not like it looks like a safe, so it is likely no one will be interested in what's inside it.

Wal Mart rules

I got a footlocker the other day, mine has a lock already built in but there is also space for a padlock if you want to do that too.

If you're getting a lockbox for stuff you care about, get a decent lock for it. The stupid little wafer locks that I often see on file cabinets and such things are trivial to pick - at least get something with real pins.

Most dorms have a lockable cabinet of some sort in the dorm. All you really need is a padlock to keep it safe.

If you buy a safe/small box why not buy one that could fit into a shoebox that way you could store it in there and no one will know its there...not even your roommate. Because lets be honest a small safe isn't very hard to walk out the room with. Also it more appealing to a theft because then they know you have something worth stealing in there. Honestly just don't take something priceless with you to college

If it's just for keeping jewelry they have these little safes that are made to look like cans of common items...chicken soup, etc. I've seen them around before but I don't know where, you could get one of those and stick it in the middle of some real soup cans maybe. It's kind of impractical to have an actual safe or one of those huge footlockers sitting around in your room.

If you get a safe, dont get a tiny one so that a thief can just grab the entire thing instead of trying to open it. I am buying a heavy one from staple's. It's not huge huge, but its heavy and large enough so that a guy cant just carry the entire thing out of the dorm if he wants to steal it.

haha true
