a (somewhat) absurd question for fellow Ivy Hopefuls

This is such a ridiculous question, but I've been thinking about it so I thought I might as well post.

For all of us multiple-ivy applicants, what's your plan of action for Decision Day? If decisions all come out at the same time, which school's do you check first? I can't decide whether I'm going to check my top choice (Brown) first and then proceed down the line, or "save the best for last..."

But will I be too heartbroken to be excited about other acceptances if I check my top choice first and receive rejection? Thoughts?

I’m gonna check them as I get them. Saves me the agony of ranking them in order lol.

Haha good point! I know, I don’t really have an order of preference after Brown. Are they by email then? I thought you had to log in to each one to see your decision but I’m not sure

Haha I was just thinking about this yesterday! I applied to Yale and Brown… I think I have a slightly better chance of getting into Brown so I’ll probably check that one first. If I get rejected from both then it wouldn’t have made a difference but if I get into Brown and not Yale then it’ll barely hurt because I’ll be so excited about Brown! And on the off chance that I get into Yale but not Brown… well then it’ll completely negate the pain from Brown! And I won’t be getting into both so that really doesn’t matter. Good luck!

Yeah you probably have to log in XD. But some schools, like Harvard, sends it to you directly. Either way, I will log in as the info comes…

I’ll just check them in the order I get them or at random. There’ll be too much suspense to have a method =p.

Agreed, the suspense will be intense! (rhyme not intended haha)

But it’s such a big moment that I feel like I should plan it. Maybe I should just pick out of a hat or something…

Omg, this is so very relevant.

My friends and I were just talking about this today hahahaha. We’ve split up into the “I’m-going-to-walk-around-refreshing-my-email-on-my-phone” group, and the “I’ll-wait-and-open-them-all-at-once-when-I-get-home” party.

Would you check with other people around though? I’m not so sure that I would…D:

Haha, I was thinking about this too. Do you know about what time they release their decisions, or does it vary a lot by school?

I’ll open Brown last. I’ll be too busy vomiting to look at the other ones if I open it first and get rejected.

I’m only applying to 2 though (3 if I decide to apply to Harvard for the hell of it). Brown and Dartmouth.

^^I believe 5:00 pm EST. I can’t decide what order I’ll check them

I’ve definitely been thinking about this for a while. Since I’m rather pessimistic about the whole ordeal I’ll probably just close my eyes and choose. Or let someone else choose.

wow i’ve never even thought about this. but good point! lol. chronological order is probably best though. that way i don’t have to pick :p

Jasonleb - Please don’t worry about this yet! You still have a year until this is all happening  Enjoy it!

I’m thinking of going in reverse alphabetical order now… Yale then Penn, Dartmouth, Brown… Apparently Cornell decision is sent via email, by the way

Well, I actually got some good news and found out I have a rather solid connection with one of the professors. I just have no idea how to go about utilizing it lmao.

I’ve actually thought about this a lot. I decided I’m going to start with the “lower” Ivies so if I get into one, I won’t mind being rejected by the “higher” Ivies (I would be ecstatic to get into any of them TBH). If I start with the “higher” ones, I don’t want to give myself false hope about getting into the “lower” ones.

I applied to Penn, Brown, Dartmouth, Harvard and Yale.

I’m gonna check it in the reverse order of preference.

I’ll wait for all the decisions to come out before I start checking, unless one of the schools decide to release the decision hours later.

I am doing alphabetical order. I applied to Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton, and Yale. I think I have a better chance at the first three so hopefully I get into one of them and then getting rejected from Yale and Princeton wont bother me =p

I am doing alphabetically. I applied to all, so we will see

It matters also on whether I get into stanford. If I do, I will not be nervous at all. But, if I don’t, then I will be nervous about the admission.
