A stroke of luck...

My recent SAT scores have come in, and i improved dramatically to gain a

Math: 780
CR: 740
Writing: 680

I have around a 3.7-3.8 unweighted, and around a 4.4-4.5 weighted. I am taking a very rigorous classload, and i will graduate having taken 6 AP courses. I am 57th out of 525 at my extremely competitive public high schools in North Carolina. I am a 2 year varsity football starter, an active, award winning member of the debate club, a Junior Marshall, a member of student council, as well as beta club. I am helping form a charity for Afghani women's education, and have assorted community service activities.

I am a relatively upper middle class white, jewish, male, who would like to major in Pre Law, Economics, PoliSci, or International Relations.

The schools i am looking at are
UNC
UVA
Georgia
Georgetown
GW
University of Miami
Clemson
UNC-Wilmington
Tulane

I am wondering my chances at these schools, and i even though i doubt i would get in, i wonder if it would be worth it to apply to any of the lower tiered Ivies or schools like Duke or Wash U.

PLEASE HELP

Thanks

helppp ahhh

The schools i am looking at are
UNC - IN
UVA - Reach / Match - Probable Acceptance
Georgia - IN
Georgetown - Reach / Match - Probable Acceptance
GW - IN
University of Miami - IN
Clemson - IN
UNC-Wilmington - IN
Tulane - IN

I think you should go for it with Duke & Washington. Which of the Ivies are you considering? You should reach for those schools as well - you do not know unless you try. Do not take yourself out of the running - let them tell you NO.

no out of state applicant is “In” at UNC. Only 18% of each class can be OOS, so it’s extremely competitive.

“I am 57th out of 525 at my extremely competitive public high schools in North Carolina.”

Imasophomore - perhpas I am wrong but I took being 57th out of 525 in a North Carolina high school would mean that the original poster is from North Carolina which would mean an IN State applicant to University of North Carolina ( UNC). If you are going to bother to respond perhaps you should read, with care, the original question/post!

You’re right. My mistake. I apologize to OP and ccmom.
