A stupid question?

is the writing seminar the only required course for ALL freshman regardless of major? cuase read some other thread that everybody had to a take a bio class too, or was that just for certain majors?

EVERYBODY must take writing seminars. Bio is only for certain majors.

It SEEMS like everyone takes a bio course but that's only because there are so many premeds.

Off topic - can you apply to as many degrees (majors) at Cornell (or any other University) as you wish?

I.E apply to Politics at Cornell. And also apply to Economics at Cornell.

You can currently apply to just one of the seven undergraduate colleges at Cornell. There is talk of maybe allowing applications to two, but you'll have to wait until the app supplement comes out to see.

In CALS everyone must take Biology, but that's not true of every school. I know CAS students don't have to, or engineers.

I do believe they are allowing students to Apply to two different majors, but only within the same school. Additionally, they must be ranked 1st and 2nd choices. I'm not 100% sure on this though.

I guess everyone will have to wait and see what they're going to do with applying to more than one school.

I was unaware that they were debating whether or not to allow this.

They are currently planning on allowing students to apply to a 2nd choice college in the fall of 2007.

This is somewhat unrelated, but to all the Class of 2010 peeps, there is something called schedulizer:

www.schedulizer.com

It is a free resource, and REALLY helpful when you begin enrolling for courses or when you add/drop.

And remember, add/drop is at your disposal. Don't feel compelled to take courses that you feel you are unprepared for this semester or if you feel that you hate the professor, or if you feel you know the course material already, etc.
