Haha...I didn't even make it to trig...I'm ending on AP stats instead :P

I took geometry over the summer, or else I would only graduate with pre-calc, so I hope this is looked on positively

My school is somewhat like yours...Most students get to the first year of Calculus by 12th grade and that's it (only about 20-25 take AP Calc AB, most just take Calc honors). 20 or so get up to Calc BC
1-2 people per year take courses past Calc BC in a CC.
I'd say that's normal for most high schools....

Anyway...CC makes me feel stupid too....

Jesus, what kind of high schools do you people go to?! We only HAVE one calc class...

you don't have to stop you know... i'm a junior, and having taken calc bc/stat this year, i've exhausted all my possiblities, so me and about 2 other bc junior/sophomores talked with the math supervisor head, and maybe we'll have linear/multivariable next year... it just takes some effort

AB is the most advanced math my high school has, and I'm happy to be in it.

We have BC and AB, but I chose AB and do not regret it :) We have had plenty of time to cover the AP test

if you do BC without doing AB, wouldn't the BC class have to cover all of Calc A (that is...all of the derivative stuff) first?
I'd think AB would have to be a prereq for BC....

I was supposed to be in BC this year, but signed up for AB instead... because I'm lazy. :D

At my school, you take either AB or BC as a senior as sort of the culmination of your "high school math career." The people in AB and BC come from the same track, but you have to be recommended to go into BC. About 60 students (out of 1800? total) take AB and maybe 30 take BC.

The few crazy ones who take BC as a junior generally go on to a more advanced math course at a community college their senior year.

@ladyinred... yes and no... we do cover derivatives and stuff, we just go at a much faster pace than a normal bc class would... hence the skip from precalc to calc bc

LadyinRed as cujoe said you can cover everything. Only like a person or two took AB before BC in our school. Ironically the kids who came from precalc are doing much better than the kid from AB. We were able to finish all the topics and pretty much reviewing right now.
