A Thought-Provoking Article on the Amherst Rape Report

If I have learned anything in the past decade, it is this: if you are victim of rape or sexual assault, or think you are, NEVER report anything to any official of a college administration, from RA on up, until you have made a report to local, non-campus law enforcement authorities. If you do, you lose all leverage, and any expectation that your grievance will ever be redressed.

And yes, if 5% of Amherst or Williams women reported their rapes (and 20%? reported their sexual assaults) to law enforcement authorities each year, the local police would be absolutely swamped. And that’s just the way it should be. Criminals who happen to be students should not be roaming these (or any other campuses) freely.
