I know this is a forum for Yale stuff, but the more I read posts about Yale, the more anxious I get. So this shall be a thread about nothing. Not about what are my chances?, when will decisions be posted?, what's your class rank?, etc.

So what's going on in your life outside of college apps? I have region band auditions this Saturday that I'm super nervous about. I had a fantastic Region Orchestra audition and made first chair and area, but since then I've been playing really badly under pressure. My Tuesday night Phase I audition was the worst I've ever played, which puts me on edge. I'm afraid of embarrassing myself on Saturday.

Any big life-changing events besides you-know-what? Cool places to go over winter break? Tree-frogs in your printer?

I need to go practice, but I shall be back in an hour or so and see how this thread is doing.

Hey, I'm kinda new to the site. I have been using it for advice for the last few months but never actually contributed.

I am starting up our Hockey season. The issue is this: This summer in the Dominican Republic, I was playing basketball and I went up for a rebound. When I came down, my foot rolled all the way under my foot, and it shattered the bone. I had to walk on it for four days until we got stateside. So then they put in 6 metal screws and a plate along the bone. Now, because the incision wound has not fully healed, the doctors are worried that if I skate the screws will be pushed through the wound and skin by the padding of the skate boot. Fun stuf... So I am working on recuperating that so I can play hockey for my senior year.

That's my thread about nothing in particular.

my parents just booked an all inclusive vacation spot in mexico for this summer. I am excited but I dont knwo anyone who has been to one of these. Has anyone gone to an all inclusive? did you like it? why or why not?!

I'm sure you'll do well at your band auditions! I have a couple band friends and I remember when it was IMEA (our band district/state thingy) audition time, it was hectic!! but all went well in the end :)

Well, I've got this Academic Bowl tournament on Saturday. I'm not sure if you guys have it, but it's like team jeopardy where there are individual toss-ups and team bonuses, it's very fun. We're still haunted by the memories from the last tournament. We did amazing in the morning rounds going 5-0 and we were seeded #2 which gave us a nice bye in the afternoon rounds. But in the first round of bracket play, we were upset 110-105!!! aghhhhhhhhh. So I gotta brush up on my Literature knowledge and hopefully we'll win on Sat!

I went to one! I went last winter to an all-inclusive resort in Puerta Vallerta. It was awesome. All day I would lie on the beach and hang out. It's all about relaxing. panthers7, get excited!

haha sara! thats so awesome... i think that is exactly where we are going actually, there or punta cana. but either way, any more info!? did you go to the clubs? did you ride horses or any of those crazy other things the places' offer. lol i bet you got a great tan, lying out everyday!!

I have musical auditions coming up next week! But i'm the only senior guy in the musical (i think only 6 or 7 guys signed up to be in it), and i've been in it for 4 years....so I'm hoping to get the lead. Not positive though. The musical is "Once Upon a Mattress" Anyone know anything about it? I hope it's good.

we're also doing this "holiday project" thing at my school where the entire school collects cans and money for this one charity, and we have can wars and penny wars etc. It's a lot of fun and we get to work with little kids who are SOOOO adorble (not those nasty ones with the snot running down their faces, but the ones whose mom's dress them in gap kids and they're just the cutest things you've ever seen.)

I have the most freakish month of December coming up. This week, I've been sick the entire week. (By the way: not being in school makes days go by sooo slowly.) Next week, parents in Paris for my mom's birthday. Weekend after they come back, drive down to Virginia, and I get to see my cousins (including two freakishly adorable six-year-old twins). Then back, pick up stepgrandmother (grandstepmother?) on the way. School, Christmas, then for New Years I'm taking the train to CT to visit friends. Yaaaay.

Reading the title of this thread makes me think of Seinfeld. And Sara? As another Sara, I have to say your name is fantastic. :D

Punta Cana as in the resort in the Dominican Republic??

I went there last august for 4 days after I broke my ankle, (see story above). It is mad nice and really luxurious, but it is very very "Americano" and touristy. Some people like that, but our group found it hard after spending a month in a town of 300.

dtown, I love Seinfeld! And panthers7, I did get a great tan. I did do the stupid horseride thing, just because I had nothing better to do. I felt like such a tourist, but whatever. It was fun to see the beaches. Unfortunately, I did not really party, because every night I got really tired around 10 pm. I know, it sounds like I'm really lame, but I swear, the sun made me really sleepy! Alcohol is everywhere though, so it was easy to just lie on the beach with a drink. A lot of Canadians were there, and they made fun of my Midwest accent. Also, the town by my resort was a quick bike ride away, so we went there a lot. It was one of my favorite vacations.

Colorado, I hope your ankle gets better soon. That sounds painful. And kinda gross.

I went to Mexico two winters ago on a cruise and had fun. We went snorkling, and one of my guy friends kept choking on sea water b/c he'd turn his head while underwater to watch some bikini-clad girl swim by, and the snorkle top would go under.

Hey Sara, where in Chicago are you btw? And congrats on getting into UIUC! So far 3 people on prstats have gotten into UIUC and they're all Yale EA'ers LOL!

we just did Once Upon A Mattress, all my drama friends were devastated because it's not the best show...the music isn't that great, and the plot's pretty silly...this must be the year for that show, because my friend in NYC is doing it for their winter musical

p.s. I love hockey and I'm dying right now without it. One of my essays involved hockey

ooo lucky!! I don't think there are any local games on LI, but I haven't actively been searching with all the stuff that's been going on this year. I honestly don't know how I'm surviving.

dtown -- ehhh, I saw the production, I love my friends, and they're awesome, but there was nothing they oculd do to makeit better than it was...I saw it on Broadway many years with Sarah Jessica Parker, and even with her it wasn't that terrific

Yeah; I've heard a couple different recordings of it and, again, it's nothing great. I'm still convinced that the production my middle school did when we were in ninth grade (the cast consisting of basically half of my good friends, although I don't sing) was about as good as that musical could get. Not that I'm biased or anything. ;)

Well I started my winter training, which is the really tough portion of the year. I train two times a day, once before school and once after, an hour in the morning and 3 after school, all facing the winter weather, which is what makes it so tough. My body is constantly beat up from running 12 miles a day. It's tough but it puts me in amazing shape for Outdoor track. Other than that I'm counting down the days to get my Yale rejection, making winter training and school that much more unbearable.

December 16th...
Dear Nick,

Happy Holidays!!!!! You are rejected.

PS. Enjoy your winter break! It should be fun fun fun!

OMG ivyboy05!
I did "once upon a mattress" when i was on exchange in Maine! IT was awesome because everyone just wanted to have fun......I was the jester. I had the time of my life and the costume made me look ridiculous! ITs not the best musical ever, but being in it was so fun!.
I hope u enjoy it!!
