^^wow a 3.68 uw is good…who the hell are you?

It’s good, kind of. For anyone to be saying bing coke/pot use is fine should have a higher gpa…

kthx.

well yeah i guess if you look at it that way.

sorry for my temper, i just hate it when people say that gpa’s that are clearly okay or good, are just mediocre/bad.

It’s, in absolute terms, a good GPA…

It would be a totally different story if he had a 4.0+ GPA and saying he can balance his binge side.

Social life isn’t synonymous with drinking and partying - each individual has a unique optimal, fulfilling social life. And when you reach that optimal social life, I guarantee you will start getting the most out of high school. I don’t feel the need to share whether or not the social life that I thrive in involves illegalness or not on an online forum, but I will say that the most successful high school students are those that manage to find a well-rounded fulfilled-ness in their social and academic lives. And that balance is different for everyone. If you can discover what your balance is between the poles of hardcore partying and goody goody two shoes, and studyholic and funchaser, during high school, then that alone is a important accomplishment.

I party I don’t drink that much and I have great stats and have been admitted to a lot of schools you just missed out!

I’d rather stay at home alone behind my computer than be out with friends getting high and drunk and STD’s.

I’m a recluse, what can I say?

^ YEah, cause they didn’t do homework
Okaaaaaaaay, so the “not doing homework” is the reason that you’re surprised they got into college. So. This actually has nothing to do with their being “heavy drinkers and partiers.”

Obligatory statement/example about person in school who drinks/smokes but plans to attend prestigious university.

Obligatory statement about how partying and academic achievement aren’t mutually exclusive.

Obligatory insult directed towards thread starter.

haha, that just about summed up this thread ;S

Good post, totally agreed.

The movie sterotypes of partiers failing is totally false. Practically everyone drinks/drugs in high school and still manages to do fine. I think that it ultimately gets the hardcore partiers in trouble in the long run whether it be with the law or the school and that will affect their future.

haha, I love the posts by people that say that they drink and party as if they are the most badass people on the planet. Who are you trying to impress on thie college admissions forum?

I think it’s more about the balance.
Yes, I love spending friday nights at parties, having a couple drinks, and enjoying the weekend if it’s not overboard (puking, very random hookups haha)
But I try to manage my time that I get my work done on time and done well too.
So far I have a 93 average and a 2280 on SAT and I’m studying for my SAT IIs.
That doesn’t mean I stay home and study 24/7…

this threadnis so perfect. I just came from a party where everyone was so dooodoo. These people get drunk and high as a main hobby. thats so doodoo, people are whack

What percent of high schoolers does drugs do you think?

I don’t and have never done drugs, smoked, drank, or partied, but I’m not a loser. I’d rather go on the internet, stay at home, go shopping, watch movies, or just hang out with friends. In fact, before high school, I thought nobody still did drugs. Maybe I’m just the minority… I don’t particularly care if others do it, as long as it’s not around me, and doesn’t affected their being.

My school’s known for pot. I’d have to say a good number of student’s at my HS drink, smoke, and do drugs. The only thing I’ve done is drank before though. My friends who are the top 10 in my class only drink too. Most of my friends and people that I know who smoke weed, and do drugs like shrooms and ecstasy are the average or below average students, with the exceptions of some sort of smarter than average kids.
