<p>Now that I have set up part one of my psychologically helpful posts here on CC (look @ "venting") I am setting up my second helpful post. This one, though it may seem somewhat sadistically pleasureful, is a request for all of those students who are in college already (especiually those in HYPSM etc.) to tell of contests they did not win, tests they did not ace, and any other things which will make them seem more human - less than godly. It seems as if a lot of people on this board, including myself, view the matriculants into those "top" colleges with salivating mouths. News flash: they are people, and I want people to realize that. Yes, they may have cured cancer or whatnot, but there were times when they did not succeed at something (right? be honest, you guys have made it already, you have nothing to lose by confessing). Thanks to all those who respond!</p>

<p>I failed a calculus test that I would have made a B on because I made a simple algebra mistake on nearly every problem. </p>
<p>I lost the regional spelling bee in 5th grade on "euphemism"</p>
<p>I got my first F in first grade. I got a couple C's on my report card in high school. </p>
<p>I got a 182 (?) on the PSAT. </p>
<p>Sometimes, I didn't do homework or study for tests because I felt like watching a bunch of Law & Order that night. </p>
<p>I'm going to Rice in the fall, btw.</p>
<p>I got a 175 on the PSAT. So national merit nothing.</p>
<p>I didn't win state for constitution team (my unit lost state for the team).</p>
<p>I didn't place in a city-wide academic all-stars competition for social sciences (I was a finalist though).</p>
<p>I nearly got last in every cross country race, but I was still out there for four years.</p>
<p>I probably got a 3 or 4 on my IB HL Physics test.</p>
<p>I got low 600's on my SAT II's the first time and a bit better the second time.</p>
<p>I won zero department awards at school, besides valedictorian (just a little bitter = )). </p>
<p>I lost the school-wide election for Treasurer. I didn't win my bid for a spot on NHS board.</p>
<p>That's all I can think of right now... I wasn't perfect, but I worked hard and did well enough.</p>
<p>And I'm going to Duke University.</p>
<p>I got a D- on my Physics final this year! (That's what happens when you've gotten into college and don't give a crap)</p>
<p>I've messed up plenty of other stuff too.</p>
<p>I managed to get myself into UMich...where I'm going next year, of course.</p>
<p>-I lost my school's spelling bee in 4th grade in the first round. I was given the word "weigh" and I spelled it w-a-y =p</p>
<p>-I failed my first high school math test</p>
<p>-I lost 0-8 in 2 out the 4 JV tennis matches I played in high school</p>
<p>-The only reason I made it to the regional science fair was because the judges from my school could tell that my parents didn't help me (meaning it sucked so badly they knew I had to have done it by myself)</p>
<p>-I got a 192 on the PSAT and a 660 on the SAT II US History</p>
<p>-I'm pretty sure I got a C on every physics test I took (thank god for extra credit) and a 3 on the AP test</p>
<p>I'm going to Duke</p>

<p>I didn't study at all for the final... instead, a new line of laptop computers just came out at the time and I couldn't resist...</p>
<p>Flopped my SATs abd Junior Year PSATs (basically all my standardized tests except for the last SAT and the last SAT IIs I took) because I was "too busy" spending quality time with my girlfriend...</p>
<p>Refused to quit competitive swimming even though it was eating out 3 hours a day and my academics were taking a small hit (physics)</p>
<p>Lost Science Departmental award to some kid going to a no-name school (yeah, I was kinda bitter, but it was just 500 bucks that I didn't get, which is enough only for a low end laptop these days :P )</p>
<p>Uum.... that's about all i can think of right now</p>
