A Tip on Accessing Back Posts for Those new to CC

Just a quick tip in case you don't know.

Log in. Go to My Control Panel. Go to Edit Options. Go to Thread Display Options and change it to Show all Threads. You can now read posts fron years back and there are many that are very handy. Good Luck.

This should be helpful to other users. Another option I like is to increase the number of posts per page to the maximum, which is currently 40.

How would you search for the first ever post made by someone?

Choco: Go to search at top dark blue line of this page. Click on search. Click on advanced search. Enter name in "search by name". Go to Search Options "Show results :and enter by "posts". Click on Search Now. Users posts should go from newest to first. Upper right corner pages 1 thru "last". Click on last. Should be first post.

Actually it doesn't. It only gives a limited number of posts that way.

I can only get 250 threads, at least if I search by author, if I am remembering correctly what I did the last time I looked for a post. I ended up having to do both an ascending and descending search to find what I was looking for. I find it very hard to find anything. I've heard some people have better luck searching on google.

Hmmm...I got 250 too but I thought it was my first post with the rest being in cafe and not counted.....or is it only sinners alley they don't count?
Oh, well. I also am very frustrated with the search engine.

well, cafe does not count in your post count, but definitely shows up in the search, by date.

AHA, I was able to improve on my search results, by going to Advanced Search, and then in the search options section, where it says "Find posts from", I selected "a year ago" and then selected "and older" and am able to see a lot more stuff. Yay!!

I have a question....what is the difference between the "Parent Cafe" and the Parent Forum"?

Parent Cafe is a place where parents go to discuss non school related topics.
Parents forum is where parents can ask each other specific questions about college process and anything else related to HS/College age students etc.

Thanks, sax.
