I’m having a dilemma of whether to write about my main accomplishment or how being abnormally tall has shaped and impacted my life. My business has just been fully developed, so if I were to write about this, then I’d probably just write about my ambition/goals for the business and how it has shaped me to the person that I am today since I couldn’t talk about any accomplishments or recognition that my team earned. Any thoughts? (this is for my UC essay prompt #1 about describing a world)
bump…
IMO any essay topic depending on how it is written could be amazing. But I like the trait one better, seems like it could reveal a lot about you, your insecurities, your family, etc.
I think your schools will be more impressed that you founded a startup than that you are very tall. The trick is that the startup essay needs to be as PERSONAL as one about your height. Show them things about your personality by writing about how you felt during the process of founding it. Why did you get into that particular field? Was it scary to start a business? Is it different than you expected? Are you interested in expanding it more or starting other company’s in the future?
^^I feel like the OP could just put it as an EC/Achievement.
But anyway I’m a bit biased seeing as I wrote a trait kind of essay for one of my colleges, I’ll update you on my admission decision.
@Malcomx99 @Jamodon The reason why I’m contemplating is because if I were to just add my startup on my activities list, it wouldn’t describe the hard work and devotion that my peers and I put into it for the last few years because we don’t have any type of definition since it has been just open to the public.
@Stanfordplz Exactly! If you can convey your genuine excitement about your startup it will naturally help admissions people get a sense of your personality. Make sure you include some specific experiences and how you felt about them .
